Syrian Military Sources Reject Capture of Idlib by Al-Nusra Terrorists

TEHRAN (FNA)- Syrian military sources rejected the western media reports that foreign-backed militant groups have captured the Northern city of Idlib.

The Reuters news agency on Monday reported that the Al-Nusra Front militants had entered Idlib city and captured a government building in there.

“The news by some western media sources that the terrorist groups had captured Idlib is not true and the Syrian troops have thwarted the attempt by the militants to seize the city,” a Syrian military source told FNA on Monday.

The military source noted that Al-Nusra Front-affiliated groups, assisted by Kataeb Jund Al-Aqsa terrorists, tried to capture Idlib by attacking the city from the Northwestern side.

He reiterated that the Syrian army killed three notorious commanders of the Al-Nusra Front in the clashes in Idlib and Idlib countryside.

Idlib has been under the control of the Syrian army for more than a year.

Earlier today, the Syrian Army foiled an infiltration attempt by the al-Nusra Front terrorists into a government building in Idlib, killing and injuring dozens of them.

The army soldiers pushed out the al-Nusra terrorists as they attempted to infiltrate into a building in the Northern areas of Idlib, and managed to claim the lives of scores of them.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011 with organized attacks by well-armed gangs and terrorists against both the army and civilians.

The unrest, which took in terrorist groups from across Europe, the Middle-East and North Africa, has transpired as one of the bloodiest conflicts in recent history.

As the foreign-backed insurgency in Syria continues without an end in sight, the US government has boosted its political and military support to Takfiri extremists.

Kurds Repulse ISIL Push in Syria’s Kobani

TEHRAN (FNA)- Kurdish forces thwarted a new attempt by ISIL terrorists to cut off the Syrian town of Kobani from the border with Turkey before Iraqi Kurdish reinforcements arrive.

Sunday’s pre-dawn assault marked the fourth straight day ISIL had attacked the Syrian side of the border crossing as the Iraqi Kurdish Peshmarga fighters prepared to head for Kobani, AFP reported.

Kurdish forces have been holding out for weeks against an ISIL offensive around Kobani, which has become a high-profile symbol of efforts to stop the terrorists’ advance.

Reports suggest that the Peshmarga forces are “ready to go”, but they are not expected to deploy to Kobani before Monday at the earliest.

Kurdish Fighters Dislodge ISIL from Syria’s Kobani

TEHRAN (FNA)- Kurdish forces have liberated the Syrian city of Kobani bordering Turkey from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorists, Lebanese television channel Al Mayadeen reported Monday.

According to the channel, over the weekend Kurdish fighters switched to an offensive on the Takfiris, forcing them three miles from the city limits after capturing several key locations, RIA Novosti reported.

According to Al Mayadeen, as many as 50 ISIL fighters were killed Sunday.

Kobani, also known as Ayn al-Arab, one of the largest towns in the Kurdish region of Syria bordering Turkey, has been under attack by ISIL militants for over a month. The siege has caused thousands of Kurds to flee for Turkey. According to the so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the fighting has claimed more than 800 victims, over half of them ISIL militants.

The ISIL Takfiri terrorists currently control parts of Syria and Iraq. They have threatened all communities, including Shiites, Sunnis, Kurds, Christians, Ezadi Kurds and others, as they continue their atrocities in Iraq.

Senior Iraqi officials have blamed Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and some Persian Gulf Arab states for the growing terrorism in their country.

The ISIL has links with Saudi intelligence and is believed to be indirectly supported by the Israeli regime.
