Algiers, (SANA) Foreign Ministers of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) 17th meeting which was held in Algeria with the participation of Syria condemned the crimes committed by the terrorists in Syria and stressed support to the political solution to the crisis and rejection of all forms of western sanctions against the Syrian people.

The ministers asserted in “Algiers Declaration” which is the final statement issued by the meeting, rejection of all forms of sanctions imposed on the NAM member states for political reasons and expressed concern over the unilateral sanctions imposed by the US on Syria.

They reiterated that all measures taken by the Israeli occupation forces in the occupied Syrian Golan are null and void.

The ministers condemned in the strongest terms the Israeli aggression against Syria last year, stressed that such acts of aggression are flagrant violation of the international law an the Disengagement Forces accord for the year 1974.

Earlier, Assistant Foreign and Expatriates Minister Hussam al-Din Ala stressed that the presidential elections process in Syria is based on the constitution and the will of the Syrian people despite of all attempts of disruption by the countries involved in shedding Syrian blood through preventing holding presidential elections at Syrian embassies.

Speaking at the 17th Ministerial Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Algiers Wednesday, Ala said that the interference in the countries’ internal affairs and the violation of their sovereignty were made under various pretexts, like what is called the right of humanitarian interference and the protection responsibility.

He asserted that the involvement of some NAM’s member states in the foreign interference campaign against Syria and instigation of military intervention in it and the exacerbation of the living situation of the Syrian people through unilateral economic measures, are illegal and violate the principles of NAM.

The Assistant Foreign and Expatriates Minister reviewed the track of the terrorist war waged against Syria for more than three years by terrorists from more than 80 countries across the world.

He pointed out that the pluralistic presidential elections in Syria will prove for the whole world the true legitimacy of ballot boxes as Syrian people will choose with complete freedom their leadership for the next stage.

He indicated that the Syrian government continues to shoulder its responsibility in meeting the basic needs of the Syrian citizens despite all the unilateral measures imposed on it.

Ala reiterated Syria’s stance on the necessity of accelerating holding the international conference on the establishment of a Middle East nuclear weapons-free zone endorsed by the final document of the Review Conference of the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty (NPT) sponsored by the UN.

On the sidelines of the Conference, Ala discussed with Foreign Minister of the Democratic Republic of Korea Ri Si Young, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov and UN Secretary-General’s Delegate to the Conference Susana Malcorra, issues of mutual concern.
