Reportage dalla Siria .8 Addounia, tivù siriana contro la disinformazione

Prima della tempesta arrivata a scuotere la Sirianel marzo 2011, la tivù privata Addounia (“mondo”) si occupava poco di politica e molto di soap opera all’araba come di altre specialità da tivù commerciale. Non era neanche tanto ben vista dal governo perché dava spesso voce al malcontento dei cittadini sulla situazione economica e sulla corruzione.
Poi è arrivato l’attacco (anche) mediatico internazionale alla Siria, sotto forma di una disinformazione che ha raggiunto picchi inusitati, superando perfino in quantità e qualità le mistificazioni che hanno reso possibile la guerra alla Libia nel 2011.
E Addounia ha sentito di dover fare la sua parte, in Siria. La crisi le ha imposto di cambiare. Adesso è in prima linea perché ogni giorno oltre alle news (alle quali viene dato molto più spazio che in passato) cura un programma contro la disinformazione dei grandi media. In particolare al-Jazeera.
Addounia trasmette solo in arabo, e in più è stata oscurata in Europa (a proposito di libertà di informazione). Ma “ci interessa raggiungere appunto i telespettatori arabi e quelli siriani in particolare. Anche loro sono intossicati” dice il direttore dell’informazione Hassem Hassan. Intossicati da al-Jazeera, al-Arabiya e dalle centinaia di tivù pagate dai petromonarchi, soprattutto dall’Arabia Saudita quanto ai canali religiosi. Hassan (originario di Homs) chiede di non essere fotografato perché è già pluriminacciato (e un giorno mentre seguivamo gli osservatori dell’Onu qualcuno si è avvicinato alla troupe per dire ‘ vi bruceremo con la benzina’”. E puntualizza: Non siamo il megafono di nessuno. Cerchiamo la verità a prescindere dalle posizioni politiche. E personalmente voglio che la pace ritorni e questa crisi sia superata. E chi vuole la pace deve riconoscere che a offrire continuamente il dialogo è appunto il governo in carica e il presidente”. Il direttore è indignato perché i media del mondo (arabo e non) non danno alcuna visibilità alla maggioranza (almeno secondo lui) dei siriani che non stanno con l’opposizione armata.
Come funziona la controinformazione di Addounia?
Spiega il direttore: “Usiamo vari strumenti. Intanto rapporti giornalieri dal terreno. I nostri reporter vanno dove accadono eventi riferibili alla “repressione” o alla “sollevazione popolare” e intervistano le persone, ad esempio i testimoni o le famiglie dei morti. E si accorgono che i fatti sono andati in modo ben diverso dalla narrazione internazionale dei media sostenuti dall’occidente o dai petromonarchi”. La narrazione mondiale ufficiale che viene da un sedicente osservatorio siriano basato a Coventry dice che Assad ha ucciso novemila o undicimila persone, “ma noi abbiamo migliaia di storie che dicono altro. Certo tutto non si può provare ma molto abbiamo confutato investigando sul posto. Del resto non di rado sono i cittadini che chiamano la tivù piangendo; sono le vittime della paura o degli attacchi e chiedono più esercito! Molti uccisi lo sono solo perché lavorano nell’amministrazione pubblica. O perché appartengono a un gruppo religioso odiato. E’ questa la libertà e democrazia di cui parlano?”. Poi ci sono gli attentati. “Una delle tante esplosioni per uccidere soldati e forse dell’ordine è avvenuta vicino a una scuola e solo per via dell’orario non c’è stata una carneficina di bambini”.
Addounia oltre ad andare sul posto fa un lavoro certosino di studio dei filmati che sedicenti “attivisti” mandano alle tivù mondiali. E se ne vedono delle belle: “ci accorgiamo spesso che sono manipolazioni, scene costruite, con l’attivista che si mette d’accordo prima con la tivù su che cosa dire”. In altri casi gli “attivisti” si vestono da medici, mentre in altri spezzoni appaiono armati…eccetera.
Un altro strumento di contrasto alla disinformazione è la valorizzazione di notizie oscurate dagli altri media. Per esempio i morti per mano di terroristi, o il fatto che centinaia di armati si consegnano alla polizia in cambio dell’amnistia, o che si svolgano manifestazioni a sostegno del governo.
L’archivio di Addounia è ormai nutrito.
“A volte sono stato io testimone degli eventi”, continua il direttore; “Faccio il caso di Homs, un week end di aprile del 2011, dopo le proteste a Deraa dove tutto è iniziato. Su facebook appare un richiamo per protestare appunto a Homs. Io sono in macchina vicino alla Piazza dell’orologio. Mentre ancora la preghiera nelle moschee è in corso, all’improvviso circa cinquanta persone si raggruppano per gridare slogan settari coperti da slogan politici. Le forze di sicurezza sono lì intorno; uno solo di loro avanza e senza armi e dice “non rovinate il paese”. Loro rispondono “è pacifica, è pacifica”. Ma migliaia di persone quando escono dalle moschee si dirigono verso la piazza. Nel farlo (da una distanza di 500 e 1.000 metri) distruggono auto e vetrine. Le forze di sicurezza guardano. Poi dalla manifestazione che si diceva “pacifica” esce un gruppo di dici persone. Va al ‘ristorante degli ufficiali’, che comunque è un normale ristorante, che non ha allora clienti ma solo le guardie e un cameriere; distrugge il locale e soprattutto uccide una delle guardie. La polizia arresta delle persone ma, credo, non gli assassini. Ecco la prima manifestazione a Homs. Programmata e con violenza”.

Before the storm arrived to shake Sirianel March 2011, the private television Addounia (“world”) took care little about politics and a lot of soap opera Arabah as other specialty television commercial. There was not a very well regarded by the government because it often gave voice to the discontent of the citizens on the economic situation and corruption.
Then came the attack (even) the international media to Syria, in the form of misinformation that has reached peaks unusual, even surpassing in quantity and quality fabrications which made war against Libya in 2011.
And Addounia heard of having to do its part, Syria. The crisis has forced a change. Now it is at the forefront because every day over the news (which is given much more space than in the past) by a program of disinformation against the mainstream media. In particular, al-Jazeera.
Addounia transmits only in Arabic, and most have been overshadowed in Europe (about freedom of information). But “we want to reach viewers just as Syrians and Arabs in particular. They too are intoxicated, “says the director of information Hassem Hassan. Poisoned by al-Jazeera, al-Arabiya television and the hundreds of paid by petromonarchi, especially from Saudi Arabia as the religious channels. Hassan (a native of Homs) asks not to be photographed because it is already pluriminacciato (and one day as we followed the UN observers someone approached the crew to say ‘we will burn it with gasoline.’ “It points out: We are not the megaphone anyone. We seek the truth regardless of political positions. And personally I want that peace returns, and this crisis will be overcome. And who wants peace must recognize that to continually offer the dialogue is precisely the current government and the president. “The director is outraged because the media of the world (Arab or otherwise) do not give any visibility to the majority (at least according to him) of the Syrians who are not with the armed opposition.
How does the counter of Addounia?
Explains the director: “We use various tools. Meanwhile, daily reports from the ground. Our reporters go where events occur related to “repression” or “popular uprising” and interviewing people such as witnesses or the families of the dead. And they realize that the events have gone very differently from the international media supported by the West storytelling or petromonarchi “. The world’s official narrative that comes from an alleged Syrian Observatory based in Coventry said that Assad has killed eleven thousand or nine thousand people, “but we have thousands of stories that say another. Certainly not all you can try but we have refuted much investigating on the spot. Besides, often it is the citizens who call the TV crying, fear, or are the victims of the attacks and call for an army! Many are killed only because they work in public administration. Addounia well as going on site is a work of painstaking study of the films that self-styled “activists” to send telly world. And if they see the beautiful, “we realize that often they are handling, sets built, with an activist who puts you first agree with the telly on what to say.” In other cases, the “activists” dress up as doctors, while other segments are armed … and so on.
Another tool to counter the misinformation has obscured the value of news from other media. For example, the deaths at the hands of terrorists, or the fact that hundreds of armed men are handed over to the police in exchange for amnesty, or which shall be held demonstrations in support of the government.

“Sometimes I was the witness of the events,” the director continues, “I make the case of Homs, a weekend in April of 2011, after the protests in Deraa where it all started. Facebook is just a call to protest in Homs. I’m in the car next to Town Square. While praying in the mosques is still in progress, suddenly about fifty people gather to shout sectarian slogans covered with political slogans. The security forces are standing around, one of them advances and without arms and says “do not ruin the country”. They reply “is peaceful, it is peaceful.” But thousands of people when they come out from the mosques are directed towards the square. In doing so (from a distance of 500 and 1,000 meters) destroy cars and shop windows. Security forces look. Then the event that it was “peaceful” comes out about a group of people. Go to the ‘officers’ restaurant’, which is still a normal restaurant, which has not only customers but then the guards, and a waiter, destroying the room and above kills a guard. The police arrest people but, I believe, not murderers. Here is the first demonstration in Homs. Programmed and violence. “
