On August 16, the Centre for the Reception, Allocation and Accommodation of Refugees (Centre for Refugee Affairs) and Joint Coordination Committee in Syria held joint session on repatriation of Syrian refugees.
The head of the Centre for Refugee Affairs, heads of Centre’s offices in al-Salhiyah Colonel Alexey Pervov and Baniyas Lieutenant Colonel Dmitry Brukov made reports at the session.
During the meeting, the representative of the Joint Coordination Center, Colonel Alexey Posunko reported:
“During the talks with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, they confirmed their readiness to provide humanitarian air for recently liberated areas from terrorists in Maariya, Arda, Abdin, al-Jamla. Today, they have already sent their representatives to assess damages of water supply system and required ammount of drinking water. On August 16-18 , the SARC plans to deliver the required ammount of drinking water.
Medical supplies provided by the government of France have been distributed in Douma (Eastern Ghouta). Medical centres and chemistries in Douma received these medication in the presence of the Russian Centre for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides.
The movement of the field mission in Homs has been monitored following a study of the needs of civilians in Deir ez-Zor.
There are negotiations planned with a representative of the Turkish Joint Coordination Centre Brigade General Chetyn Koklu.
However, despite the possitive progress, the main work is still ahead.”
A representative of the Syrian Centre for Refugee Affairs, Ali Asa, reported on the work done on the repatriation of refugees:
The Syrian leadership continues working on repatriation of Syrian refugees and reaffirms the readiness to ensure security guarantees, employment, housing, assistance in document re-issuance, as well as humanitarian and other aid for Syrian refugees returning back from abroad.
It is reported that 316 Syrians returned back to:
Homs province – 204 people, in total – 28,517 people;
Eastern Ghouta – 112 people, in total – 75,353 people.
In total since March 4, 2018 Besides, 26,642 people, 3,869 vehicles and 42,558 heads of cattle left the Idlib de-escalation zone.
There are 497,650 places arranged to receive and accommodate refugees in 117 settlements less affected by the combat actions.
Over the past day, they cleared 2 ha of territory, five buildings and 1km of road in Majdal, Talbiseh, Nasiri-Harabesi (Homs province).
They found and defused 57 explosive devices including 21 improvised explosive devices.
In total in Homs province, they cleared up 232.6ha of the territory, 735 buildings and 45.8km of roads.
Colonel Alexey Pervov, the head of the Centre for Refugee Affairs Branch, reported on functioning of the Salhiyah CP:
The al-Salhiyah CP works as planned. It has duty shifts and all required material stocks available. We have no issues of concern.
