The General Command of the Army and Armed Forces said on Wednesday that army units carried out a wide-scale military operation in the southern region which resulted in consecutive significant achievements in several areas of Damascus Countryside, Quneitra, and Daraa.

The General Command said that army units restored security and stability to the towns of Dair al-Adas, al-Danaji and Dair Maker, establishing control over the hills of Massih, Murrei, al-Arous, and al-Sarjeh.

According to the General Command, the army eliminated large numbers of terrorists from Jabhet al-Nusra, adding that it is still pursuing the terrorists groups who collapsed under the strikes of the Syrian Arab Army in the rural areas of Damascus Countryside, Quneitra, and Daraa provinces.

The General Command said that these successes achieved by the army in the southern area are vital as they secure the areas between Damascus and Quneitra and between Damascus and Daraa on one hand, and on the other hand these operations cut off supply and communication lines between terrorists in these provinces, adding that establishing controls over the hills which are vantage points will help achieve more military victories in the area.

The General Command concluded by vowing that the army will continue to fulfill its national duties in all terrorism-afflicted areas.

Army achieves strategic breakthrough by controlling Deir al-Adas in Daraa
11/02/2015
Daraa, SANA

The Syrian Arab Army established control over the strategically important area of Deir al-Adas in Daraa province on Wednesday as a part of a broader military plan to clear the area of terrorist organizations and agents of the Israeli enemy.

A field officer told SANA that Deir al-Adas is strategically important as it was considered a base for terrorists from which they carried out their attacks on Damascus and its countryside.

The swift advance of the army was a result of a number of elements, on top of which was the locals’ rejection of terrorists, and many defense groups of the locals played a significant role along with the military units in eliminating large number of terrorists and forcing other to flee the area.

Establishing control over Deir al-Adas, Deir Makir, al-Danaji and its surrounding hills is of special importance as these areas link each of Damascus Countryside, Daraa, and Quneitra, which in turn means that all plans made by the terrorists’ operation centers in Jordan with the supervision of intelligence agencies from Israel, USA, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, France, and Turkey have been frustrated.

The new advance scattered the terrorist organizations in Syria’s southern region and made their supply lines from Israel and Jordan longer and less direct than they were before.

Units of the army and armed forces restored Wednesday morning security and stability to Deir Maker town and established control over Tal al-Sarja and Tal Arous in the southwestern countryside of Damascus, a military source said.

On Tuesday, the army gained firm grip on al-Denaji town, which borders the southern province of Quneitra, only one day after it established control over Tal Merei in the western countryside of Damascus, which connects Deir Maker with Deir al-Adas town in Daraa.

Deir al-Adas, which is a point of link between the Israeli enemy and al-Qaeda-linked Jabhat al-Nusra which the former directly supports, came under the control of the army that restored security and stability to the town on Tuesday. The army also established control over Tall Mseih (a hill) overlooking the town.
