Syria’s permanent representative to the UN, Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari said that Syria will not allow turning Idleb into new caves for terrorists.

During a UNSC session on the situation in Middle East, al-Jaafari said that “the illegal US-led international coalition targets everything in Syria except for terrorist groups. We are surprised that the UN Special Envoy’s report ignored the crimes of this coalition against the Syrians.”

“The illegal US-led international coalition continues to commit crimes in Syria, the last of which was in the villages of al-Sosa and al-Bubadran in the countryside of Deir Ezzor, which led to the martyrdom of 62 civilians,”al-Jaafari added.

“Syria believes in the role of the United Nations, which is based on the force of law and not on the arrogance of power, and respects the sovereignty of states and the principles of non-interference in their internal affairs,” he added.

“The Syrian state is keen to end the crisis. We are the first and last victim of this terrorist war, which was aimed at killing Syrian people and destroying Syria’s infrastructure,” Al-Jaafari said.

He pointed out that the establishment of a committee to discuss the current constitution which represents the Syrian society and fulfills its ambitions is one way out of the crisis.

The Syrian government will make every positive effort to achieve what the Syrian people, Syria’s loving nations and all those who aspire to build a world free of terrorism want.

“Idleb is part of Syria and it is natural that the Syrian state is fighting terrorism in order to rid its people of terrorism and establish its sovereignty over it,” said al-Jaafari.
