Damascus, (SANA) Syrian Embassies around the world called on Syrian expatriates with valid residence permits to bring their passports and register their names on electors’ lists at the embassies’ headquarters.

Registration of names started on April 28 and will continue through May 16 from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM local time.

Syrians abroad can vote in the presidential elections at the embassies in their countries of residence on May 28 from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm local time.

The Presidential Elections Committee at the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry noted in a statement issued on Tuesday that the registration of names on voters’ lists can be done by sending fax, mail or e-mail with the necessary ID information to the embassies.

As per the general elections also, Syrians residing abroad can vote in the presidential elections as long as they register for them and if there is no legal reason preventing them from voting, and the voter can present a valid passport stamped with a departure stamp from any Syrian border departure point.

The law stipulates that Syrian representatives of the candidates can attend the voting process and the announcement of results at the embassy’s voting area.

The minutes and paperwork will be delivered to the relevant electoral authorities in Syria by the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry using the fastest means of transport available, with the Ministry providing all that is needed for the voting process abroad.
