Russian Military Police Ensure Safe Passage for Humanitarian Aid to Rukban Refugee Camp

Russian military police ensured safe passage of the UN humanitarian convoy from Damascus to the Rukban refugee camp located on Syrian-Jordanian border close to the U.S. military base in al-Tanf.

At the request of the UN, Russian servicemen escorted the humanitarian convoy to the border of the 55-kilometer “security zone” around the American base in al-Tanf. Two Mi-8AMTSh and a Mi-24 helicopters provided security from the air.

The humanitarian cargo contained food supplies, medication, and the bare necessities.

Humanitarian aid provided for the Syrian population

Over the last 24 hours the Russian Centre for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides has held two humanitarian actions:

People in Sheikh-Akhmed, Aleppo province, received 450 food sets with a total weight of 1.95 tons;

People in Marrat, Deir ez-Zor province, received 450 food sets with a total weight of 1.95 tons;

Total number of humanitarian actions is 1,981, with a total weight of cargo delivered – 3,100.39 tons.
