TEHRAN (FNA)- A large number of Syrians in the occupied Golan region in the Southwestern province of Quneitra set fire again at the election cards distributed by the Israeli forces in the region, Syria’s state-run news agency reported on Wednesday.

SANA reported that Syrians in the occupied Golan opposed an Israeli plan for Judaization of the region, including holding a local council election.

People in the villages of Majdal al-Shams, Ein Daqa, Ein Mas’adah and Baq’ath poured into the streets and burned the election cards in front of the Israeli soldiers’ eyes, it went on to say.

SANA further said that Golan residents will never accept Israeli identity and will foil the Israeli plot for holding election and forcing people to obey Israeli laws to pave the ground for annexing the region to Israel.

It said that the participant in the demonstration underscored their Syrian identity and woved to resist against occupiers to liberate the Golan.

On Sunday, Syrians in occupied Golan held a sit-in at Majdal Shams Square and burned the “election cards” distributed among them by the Israeli authorities with regard to the so-called “local councils” elections.

Participants in the sit-in raised the Syrian flag and banners in rejection of the policies of Judaization adopted by the occupiers, reiterating their rejection of participating in the elections.

They also reiterated their loyalty to their homeland Syria and their belief that the occupation will end.

Syrians in the occupied Golan also announced their popular movement in rejection of the elections which will last till the end of the current month.

Liberated prisoner Bishr al-Maqt affirmed in a speech delivered during the sit-in that all measures taken by the Israeli authorities are null and void and they don’t have a legal value.
