The Russian Defense Ministry has denied reports that Russian soldiers have been killed in Daraa or elsewhere in Syria.

“There were no casualties among the Russian military in Daraa province or in the Syrian Arab Republic in general,” the ministry said in a statement issued today.

The statement stressed that all Russian military personnel in Syria “are safe and healthy and continue to perform their duty according to plan.”

The Russian defense denied the authenticity of information previously reported by some media that claimed the deaths of 35 Russian and Syrian military personnel as a result of a suicide terrorist attack in southern Syria.

The ministry stressed that the false news about the fall of the Russian military in Syria was launched by elements of terrorist organizations.
