Syrian Army on Verge of Liberation of Strategic Region in Eastern Damascus

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian army units launched heavy attacks on terrorists’ positions in the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus, destroying several bases and arms caches in the region.

The Syrian army’s artillery, missile and air forces pounded the terrorists’ positions and moves in Hazeh, Modira, Arabayn, Saqaba, Kafr Batna and Hamouriyeh in Eastern Ghouta.

During the operations, an arms cache and several bases and vehicles belonging to the terrorists were destroyed and at least 13 militants were killed and tens of others were wounded.

A military source confirmed that the terrorists’ defense lines have collapsed after the operations, adding that they have severely become weak in the town of al-Nashabiyeh.

The source underlined that the Syrian army forces are more than ever close to the liberation of al-Nashabiyeh.

In a relevant development on Tuesday, the Syrian and Russian fighter jets bombed a convoy of terrorists and their military equipment heading from Eastern Qalamoun region towards army positions in Eastern Ghouta of Damascus, inflicting heavy tolls and damages on them.

Field sources reported that the Russian and Syrian warplanes targeted the positions of Ahmad Abdu terrorist group and other militants who were preparing to launch an offensive against the Syrian army positions near al-Zamir airbase in North of Eastern Ghouta.

They added that during the airstrikes against the terrorists in regions near al-Rahibeh and Petra in Eastern Qalamoun a number of terrorists were killed and several of their vehicles and military equipment were smashed.

Members of Ahmad Abdu terrorist group were preparing to attack the Syrian army positions in the region.

New Convoys of Syrian Army, Russian Forces, Equipment Sent to Eastern Damascus

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian army dispatched fresh forces and new equipment to Eastern Damascus, media reports said on Thursday, adding that the Russian forces are also present in the region to help with the purging operations in Eastern Ghouta.

The Arabic-language al-Watan newspaper quoted field sources as saying that the Russian reconnaissance teams along with new Russian weapons have entered certain regions near Eastern Ghouta of Damascus which waits for the army’s deployment.

The Syrian army sent a new military convoy from Homs province to the Eastern, Northern and Southern fronts of Eastern Ghouta to prepare for imminent massive operations in the region.

The Russian Center for Syrian Reconciliation, a peace monitoring and humanitarian organization jointly run by Russia and Turkey, came under terrorists’ attack on Tuesday.

No Russian casualties were reported from the incident, but Syrian civilians have been reported dead and injured, the AMN reported.

“Residential areas, hotels in Damascus, as well as the Russian Center for Syrian reconciliation (in Humeimim airbase) came under massive shelling by terrorist groups operating in Eastern Ghouta area, causing significant infrastructural damage and casualties among the civilian population,” the center said in a statement.

“There are no casualties among the Russian military personnel,” the statement added.

Eastern Damascus: Terrorists Ignore Demands for Talks, Use Civilians as Human Shields

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Russian defense ministry warned that the terrorists in Eastern Ghouta of Damascus are using civilians as human shields, adding that they have given no answer to the demands for ending the clashes.

Russia’s Reconciliation Center of the defense ministry reported on Thursday that Jeish al-Islam terrorists have closed a corridor near al-Wafedin camp, preventing the civilians from leaving the militant-held regions in Eastern Damascus.

It added that Jeish al-Islam, Faylaq al-Rahman and Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at (the Levant Liberation Board or the Al-Nusra Front) terrorists are blocking any government efforts to help the civilians, noting that tens of civilians have been taken hostage by the militants in the region and tens of others were detained.

The Center also reported that the terrorists have not responded to the Russian military men’s demands to stop clashes and disarm, stressing that negotiations have gone astray in practice.

Meantime, local sources reported on Sunday that the Syrian army troops are preparing for an imminent operation against terrorists after arrival of more forces and equipment in Eastern Ghouta.

The sources said that a long convoy of army vehicles, including several armored and personnel carrier vehicles and a large number of fresh forces arrived in Eastern Damascus.

They added that the army is now fully prepared to kick off a large-scale operation against terrorists in the region.

Kurdish Forces Deliver Control of Positions in Eastern Aleppo to Syrian Army

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Kurdish forces have delivered control of their positions in Eastern Aleppo to the Syrian army and hoisted the Syrian flag above them, media sources reported on Thursday.

The Arabic-language al-Mayadeen news channel reported that the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) delivered control of the Eastern districts of Aleppo, including Sheikh Maqsoud, al-Halak and Bustan Pasha, after coordination with the Syrian army.

Also, certain Syrian sources reported that the Syrian army units have entered Sheikh Khazar, al-Ashrafiyeh and al-Heidariyeh neighborhoods.

They added that the Syrian flag has been hoisted above those neighborhoods, adding that delivering control of the East Aleppo districts to the army was in line with implementing the agreement between the Kurds and the Syrian government on Afrin.

The Syrian and Kurdish officials have not confirmed the reports yet.

The development came after a YPG spokesman underlined that the Syrian army forces have been called to Afrin to end the Turkish army occupation and aggression.

“Deployment of a part of the Syrian army forces in Afrin is aimed at confronting the Turkish government attacks,” Nouri Mahmoud was quoted as saying by the Kurdish media on Wednesday.

He stressed that the world has admitted the Syrian army’s high capabilities, and said, “They are responsible for protecting the Syrian territories and therefore, their presence is aimed at defending Syria’s territorial integrity.”

Mahmoud confirmed that a number of Syrian army forces were deployed in Afrin on Tuesday at the Kurds’ demand.

Meantime, pro-Damascus popular forces entered the Kurdish-held town of Afrin, as Ankara said its forces have prevented the popular forces from entering Afrin in Northwestern Aleppo.

Al-Mayadeen TV reported that the Damascus-affiliated popular force have entered the town of Afrin via the Ziyareh passageway after leaving the towns of Nubl and al-Zahra.

It went on to say that the Turkish army’s artillery units and Air Force pounded the movements and positions of the popular forces in Kafin region to prevent them from entering Afrin, adding that the popular forces launched retaliatory attack on the Turkish troops and destroyed one of their drones.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had previously announced that Ankara force would prevent the pro-Damascus popular forces from entering Afrin.

Media sources reported on Tuesday that Ankara was attempting to block the Syrian popular forces’ deployment in Afrin in Northern Syria to halt clashes between the Kurds and the Turkish army.

Al-Mayadeen news channel confirmed that several routes in Marimin, Bastouleh and Jabal al-Ahlam which were due to be used by the Syrian volunteer forces to enter Afrin have been attacked by the Turkish army.

Hundreds of Popular Forces Deploy in Different Fronts in Afrin to Fight against Turkish Army

TEHRAN (FNA)- The second convoy of hundreds of popular forces arrived in Afrin region, deploying in regions of clashes with the Turkish army forces and their affiliated militants.

Syrian state news agency SANA reported that a new group of popular forces entered Afrin on Wednesday afternoon through Aleppo-Nobl road.

Meantime, the Arabic-language al-Mayadeen news channel confirmed that 300 Syrian popular forces have arrived in Afrin to prevent the Turkish army’s advance.

Also reports said that over 400 Syrian popular forces have been stationed in different fronts in Afrin, including the bordering Rajou region and the center of this region in Western Afrin and Jandaris.

A media outlet reported on Wednesday that the pro-Damascus popular forces entered the Kurdish-held town of Afrin, while Ankara said its forces have prevented the popular forces from entering Afrin in Northwestern Aleppo.

US Airstrikes in Syria Take Civilian Lives Again

TEHRAN (FNA)- Tens of civilians were killed and wounded in the US-led coalition fighter jets’ attacks against Deir Ezzur.

Local sources reported on Thursday that the US warplanes have attacked the town of Hajin in Eastern Deir Ezzur, killing 12 civilians, most of them women and children.

Meantime, tens of other civilians were wounded, a number of them in critical conditions.

Also, last Tuesday, the US-led coalition fighter jets killed 16 civilians in Southeastern Deir Ezzur.

Local sources confirmed that the US warplanes have attacked the town of al-Bahra in Southeastern Deir Ezzur, killing 16 civilians.

Late in January, local sources in Southeastern Deir Ezzur reported that a number of civilians have been killed or wounded in the US-led collation air raids.

The sources said that the fighter jets pounded the village of al-Bahara on the Eastern bank of the Euphrates River, killing five civilians and wounding several more.

Local sources also confirmed in the same month that the warplanes pounded the villages of al-Bahara, killing 30 civilians, mostly women and children.

The sources further said that the death toll would likely increase as some of the injured are in critical conditions.

The army engineering units dismantled an explosive device planted by terrorists on Daraa- al-Mesmyia highway in Daraa northeastern countryside.

A source at Daraa Police Command told SANA reporter that while combing the road linking al-Mesmyia town and the International Highway on Thursday morning the engineering units dismantled an explosive device planted by terrorists near one of the factories on the highway.

The source added that the terrorist organizations exploit the fact that the villages in which they are positioned in al-Lajat are close to the Mesmyia town to sneak to the highway at night and commit crimes against the citizens and the passing cars.

Russia Deploys 5th Generation Fighter Jets in Syria

TEHRAN (FNA)- Russia has sent its latest fighters jets to its military base of Humeimim in Lattakia province, media reports said on Thursday.

The Arabic website of Sputnik news agency quoted social media activists as saying that two Su-57, four Su-35 and four Su-25 fighter jets as well as one A-50U1 plane have arrived in Humeimim airbase.

Other media outlets had also earlier reported that 9 new fighter jets have deployed in Humeimim in the past two days.

A media outlet reported late in January that a huge Russian shipment of weapons bound for Syria in the form of one government-contracted sea-lifter and a naval landing ship has recently transited the Bosphorus Strait.

Observers from the Bosphorus Strait in Turkey said the transiting of two Russian vessels – one a sea-lifter and the other a navy landing ship – inbound for the Syrian port city of Tartus; both are carrying a wealth new military equipment, the AMN reported.

The logistical carrier, identified as the RoRo Altay, has been photographed with what sources count as 133 Ural military-grade transport trucks above its hull. No information exists on what army equipment is present within the ship’s actual cargo bay.

The RoRo Altay’s naval accomplice has been identified as the Ropucha-class landing ship ‘Alexander Otrakovsky’ whose military cargo is completely hidden inside internal bays and can only be guessed.

All military equipment being delivered will most likely be pressed into service with the Syrian Armed Forces.
