Army retakes more villages in Homs, advance towards al-Mayadeen city in Deir Ezzor

A military source announced restoring control over the villages of Tal Shehab and al-Laj in the eastern countryside of Homs after eliminating the last gatherings of ISIS in them.

The source told SANA that army units carried out on Thursday morning a military operation against ISIS gatherings in the villages of Tal Shehab and al-Laj to the east of Jebb al-Jarrah in eastern Homs.

As a result of the operation, the army re-established control over the villages completely after killing 20 terrorists, injuring 13 others and destroying their equipment.

Later, units of army regained control over the villages of al-Wadiha, Salam Sharqi and Um Twinah near Jub al-Jarah in Homs eastern countryside.

Army units continued their advance to eliminate ISIS terrorists from southeastern countryside of Deir Ezzor and became at distance of 5 km from outskirts of al-Mayadeen city.

SANA reporter said that the army units carried out, during the past few hours, intensive operations against the hideouts and gatherings of ISIS terrorists on Deir Ezzor-al-Mayadeen road and its surroundings, inflicting heavy losses upon them in personnel and weaponry.

He added that the army’s intensive artillery strikes on ISIS positions in al-Mayadeen destroyed a weapon’s warehouse, a communication center and several machineguns-equipped vehicles.

The reporter noted that the army units operating in the south western countryside killed the terrorist groups which infiltrated earlier to al-Shoula-Hreibsha axis.

Russian submarines destroy ISIS sites in al-Mayadeen city by Kalibr missiles

Russian Defense Ministry confirmed the destruction of ISIS sites through strikes with Kalibr cruise missiles on al-Mayadeen city in the Syrian province of Deir Ezzor.

In a statement published on its website, the ministry said that two submarines from the Russian Black Sea Fleet “Veliky Novgorod and Kolpino” delivered strikes from Mediterranean Sea by 10 Kalibr cruise missiles on ISIS sites in the area surrounding al-Mayadeen city.

The ministry added that the ammunition depots and armored vehicles for ISIS were destroyed due to the strikes in addition to the killing of a number of terrorists.

The ministry reaffirmed that the Russian air group and naval forces continue to support the Syrian army’s operations aimed to defeat ISIS terrorist organization in the Euphrates River valley.

Al-Nusra’s Joulani Injured in Russian Airstrike

TEHRAN (FNA)- The newly-appointed Chief Commander of Tahrir al-Sham Hayat (the Levant Liberation Board or Al-Nusra Front) was badly wounded in the Russian fighter jets’ airstrikes in Idlib.

Abu Mohammad al-Joulani, who was appointed as the Commander-in-chief of Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at earlier this week, was targeted by the Russian airstrike while at least 12 senior commanders of the Al-Nusra were killed, the Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Major-General Igor Konashenkov said.

“Joulani sustained shrapnel wounds and is in a critical condition after losing his arm, according to information from multiple independent sources,” Konashenkov added. The airstrike killed at least 12 Al-Nusra field commanders and some 50 members of the group’s security detail, the ministry’s spokesman said, adding that Joulani’s aide was also killed in the Russian strike.

Also in the past 24 hours, Ezzat Hawari, a senior commander of Tahrir al-Sham Hayat, was gunned down by unknown assailants in the Central part of the militant-held Idlib city.

Militant-affiliated websites reported on Wednesday that Ezzat Hawari nom de guerre Abu Elias, a notorious commander of Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at, was killed in an attack by unknown raiders on the 30th street in Idlib city.

In the meantime, Abu Khadija Libia’ei, another commander of Tahrir al-Sham, was assassinated in an attack in the town of al-Dana in Northern Idlib a couple of days ago, the websites said, adding that Abu Hamzah al-Raqawi, one of his aides was badly injured in the attack.

Deir Ezzur

The Syrian Army units repelled ISIL’s heavy attack on pro-government forces’ positions in Western Deir Ezzur, inflicting tens of casualties on the terrorists on Wednesday.

The army men clashed fiercely with ISIL in the town of Kabajeb along the international highway to Deir Ezzur city and managed to fend off terrorists’ offensive.

The army men killed tens of terrorists and destroyed their military vehicles and equipment.

Meantime, Syrian media outlets disclosed on Wednesday that Washington and Kurds have failed to reach an agreement with ISIL terrorists on earning control over a key region in Eastern Deir Ezzur.

The Arabic-language al-Watan daily quoted Sheikh Mohammad Amlah al-Daham, the leader of al-Akidat tribe, as saying that the US and Kurdish forces entered talks with the ISIL to let them capture the town of al-Basireh following the Syrian Army troops’ advances towards the town of al-Mayadeen in Southeastern Deir Ezzur.

He told al-Watan that the Kurdish forces demanded the ISIL to retreat from al-Basireh region and join the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Hasaka province.

Al-Daham further told the paper that a large number of ISIL terrorists deployed in al-Basireh accepted the Kurd’s offer and joined the SDF, but, a number of them refused and stayed in the region to continue battle, pushing the initial agreement into failure.

Also in the past 24 hours, the Syrian Army forces continued to hit ISIL’s defense lines and managed to record significant advances towards the town of al-Mayadeen, the main bastion of the terrorist group in the Southeastern part of the province.

Field sources said that the army men, backed up by the army’s artillery units and aircraft, continued to clash with ISIL in several flanks in Southeastern Deir Ezzur towards the town of Mouhassan.

Also, warplanes pounded ISIL’s movements and positions in the towns and villages of Buqras Fowqani, al-Mayadeen, Jadid, Akidat and Bu Leil, killing a number of terrorists and destroying their equipment, the sources added.

In the meantime, another field source reported that the army units advanced along the Deir Ezzur-al-Mayadeen road, capturing several more positions.

The source further said that the army forces repelled large-scale attacks of ISIL’s suicide vehicles in Bu Leil region near Mouhassan.

Also, local sources reported on Wednesday that Mohammad Abid al-Mohsen, a notorious field commander of ISIL, escaped from the battlefields in Deir Ezzur to the positions of the SDF in Hasaka province.

The sources said that Abid al-Mohsen nom de guerre Abu Jarkha, a field commander of the ISIL, left Deir Ezzur along with three other terrorists for the regions in Hasaka province that are under the SDF control amid rapid advances of the Syrian Army troops in Deir Ezzur province.

The sources further said that the ISIL has been transferring the family members of its fighters to safer regions out of the town of al-Mayadeen following the army’s advances in the region.

Homs

The Syrian Army troops pushed ISIL back from two more key regions in Eastern Homs on Wednesday, expanding the range of their advances against terrorists in the Central part of the war-hit country.

The army soldiers took control over the villages of al-Jaberiyeh and Baraqa al-Nashmeh North of the village of Um al-Rish.

A military source said that the army men have gained military control over the villages of al-Wazihi and Tuweineh after capturing al-Jaberiyeh and Baraqa al-Nashmeh, adding that the army has kicked off fresh operations to liberate al-Wazihi and Tuweineh.

Also on Wednesday, the Syrian Army troops pushed ISIL back from more regions in Eastern Hama, inching closer to the recapture of the entire border regions between Hama and Homs provinces, military sources confirmed.

The sources said that the army soldiers engaged in a tough battle with ISIL in Eastern Hama and imposed full control over the village of Abu Dali al-Sharqi.

In the meantime, a field commander said that the army has made a buffer zone between Eastern Hama and a large part of the triangle of Shoumeriyeh-Jubb al-Jarah-Mount Sha’er in Eastern Homs following its advances against ISIL in the last two days.

The commander further said that the army men have seized control over 30 villages and settlements with almost 1,000sq/km of area in their operation that they started from Sha’er region in Eastern Homs towards the village of al-Faseda in Eastern Hama.

Also on Wednesday, the Syrian Army troops stormed ISIL’s defense lines near the town of al-Sukhnah in Eastern Homs, and seized control over several heights after inflicting a heavy defeat on the terrorists.

The army units and Qalamoun Shield Forces carried out a joint offensive against ISIL in Eastern Homs and managed to take control over Mount al-Mahsah, Mount Jabil and Fat’ha al-Mahsah region.

In the meantime, the army soldiers engaged in fierce clashes with the terrorists near al-Sukhnah and the town of al-Quaryatayn, killing over 100 terrorists and capturing tens of others.

Field sources reported that the army has dispatched a large number of forces and a large volume of equipment to areas near al-Sukhnah and has created a strong circle of forces around the town to prevent ISIL from moving towards Palmyra (Tadmur) city.

Hama

The Syrian Army troops captured more regions in the Central part of the country, purging completely Eastern Hama of ISIL terrorists, a field source reported on Wednesday.

The source said that the army soldiers won back the village of Hardaneh and Tal (hill) Ayed and Tal Adimeh in Eastern Hama.

The source further said that the ISIL suffered heavy casualties and its military hardware sustained major damage in the attacks.

The Army forces have now the entire Eastern Hama under their control and there is no area left under ISIL’s control in the region.

Also in the past 24 hours, the Syrian Army men captured two more key regions in Eastern Hama, and are about to purge ISIL from the entire province.

The army men engaged in fierce clashes with ISIL in Eastern Hama and imposed full control over the villages of Um Meil and Abu Habilat.

In the meantime, the Syrian Air Force bombed heavily ISIL’s strongholds in Maksar al-Janoubi and its surroundings and Jubb Ayed in Eastern Hama, destroying several military vehicles and killing all the fighters on board.

A field sources confirmed that the army men are now ending ISIL’s presence in Eastern Hama following their recent advances.

Raqqa

The US-led coalition fighter jets bombed residential areas in ISIL-held Raqqa city, killing and wounding 35 civilians, mostly women and children, medical sources in the city reported.

The sources reported that the warplanes targeted a water well in al-Hadiqa al-Bayezah (white garden) area in al-Towe’eiyeh region Northwest of Raqqa city, killing 21 civilians and wounding 14 more.

The sources added that most of the dead and injured people are children and women that had gathered around the well to take water out for their daily consumption.

They added that it was the last water well that contained drinking water.

Russian Defense Shield in Syria Intercepts ISIL Grad Missiles

TEHRAN (FNA)- Russian media outlets reported that the country’s missile defense system, ‘PANTSIR-S’, has destroyed incoming Grad missiles fired from ISIL positions at Syrian army units.

According to the Arabic-language website of Sputnik, the PANTSIR-S system has smashed 2 ISIL Grad missiles before hitting the targets.

PANTSIR-S1 (NATO reporting name SA-22 Greyhound) is a combined short to medium range surface-to-air missile and anti-aircraft artillery weapon system produced by KBP of Tula, Russia.

The system is a further development of 2K22 Tunguska (NATO reporting name: SA-19/SA-N-11) and represents the latest air defense technology by using phased array radars for both target acquisition and tracking.

The PANTSIR-S1 was designed to provide point air defense of military/industrial/administrative installations against aircraft, helicopters, precision munitions, cruise missiles and UAVs and to provide additional protection to air defense units from enemy air attacks employing precision munitions, specially at the low to extremely low ranges.

US Spy Arrested in Damascus

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian intelligence forces detained a US spy in Damascus, media sources reported on Thursday.

According to the Arabic-language al-Hadath news, the Syrian security apparatus arrested a US spy who had taken images and recorded footage of several military points near Damascus in disguise as a journalist and with a fake ID card. They also seized a number of weapons, cameras and computers during the arrest.

The spy who is originally a Syrian Arab confessed that he was hired via social media networks with a monthly salary of $20,000 and provided the US authorities with the demanded images and intelligence.

He also confessed to cooperation with certain terrorist groups in Ghouta of Damascus.

Russian and Arab media sources reported in June that the Russian anti-aircraft missile units have targeted a US reconnaissance plane over Eastern Mediterranean Sea.

Social media activists in Tartus port city reported that the Russian anti-aircraft missile units opened fire at a US spying plane in the Mediterranean Sea.

As the Russian missile units started anti-air operation, unconfirmed reports said that the Russian missiles targeted a RQ 4 Global Hawk drone of the US army.

The Mirnov’vestiyeh daily reported that the US possibly planned to gather intel on the Russian anti-aircraft system in Tartus port and Humeimim base by using RQ 4 Global Hawk drone that is an expensive spying plan.

Syria: Army Soldiers Regain Control over 9 Other Bordering Areas with Jordan

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian army troops continued military operations in Southeastern Damascus, winning back control over 9 new bordering areas with Jordan.

The army forces retook control over the 9 bordering points of 196, 197, 198, 199, 200, 201, 202, 203 and 204.

The army soldiers’ operations in the region also left a number of terrorists killed and wounded.

In a relevant development on Sunday, the Syrian army and allied forces managed to seize full control over several more positions and outposts near the country’s border with Jordan.

The army units and allies forces retook control of nine border areas from Point 177 to Point 185 which were regarded as main defense lines of the terrorists in Southern Syria.

This is while the Syrian army troops came in control of Points 173, 174, 175 and 176 around 20 days ago and within the framework of their operations for imposing control over vaster regions at border areas.

The army troops also won control of al-Azan mountains and their surrounding areas measuring 150 square kilometers in the Eastern countryside of Sweida to the East of al-Zalaf dam.

A military news outlet run by the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement said on Saturday that the newly-recaptured positions were all situated to the southeast of the capital Damascus.

The Syrian army’s attack killed and wounded militants, the report added without elaborating on their number.

ISIL Withdraws from 5 Regions in Eastern Homs

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian army troops regained control of 5 new regions in Eastern Homs from the ISIL terrorists.

The army units engaged in clashes with ISIL militants in Eastern Homs on Thursday, winning back control of the 5 villages of al-Kharijieh, al-Arshouneh, Tabarat al-Dibeh, al-Wazihi and al-Nashmi.

After the army advances, the engineering units started cleansing the region from mines and bombs planted by the ISIL.

In a relevant development on Wednesday, the Syrian army troops stormed ISIL’s defense lines near the town of al-Sukhnah in Eastern Homs, and seized control over several heights after inflicting a heavy defeat on the terrorists.

Several More Civilians Killed in US-Led Coalition Airstrikes in Raqqa

TEHRAN (FNA)- The US-led coalition’s airstrikes against Raqqa city in Northeastern Syria killed and wounded several other civilians.

The US fighter jets pounded a residential block in al-Kahroba region in Raqqa city, killing at least 15 civilians and wounding a number of others.

Medical sources in Raqqa had also reported on Wednesday that the US-led coalition fighter jets bombed residential areas in ISIL-held city, killing and wounding 35 civilians, mostly women and children.

6 persons killed, 12 others injured in terrorist rocket attack in Deir Ezzor

6 citizens were killed while 12 others were injured as the ISIS terrorists targeted with a rocket shell al-Qousor residential neighborhood in Deir Ezzor city.

SANA reporter stated that the ISIS terrorists on Thursday fired a rocket shell on al-Qousor neighborhood, claiming the lives of 6 citizens and injuring 12 others, and causing material damage to houses and properties.

Situation in the Syrian Arab Republic is being stabilized.

For the last 24 hours, one ceasefire agreement has been signed with representatives of Kissin located in the Homs de-escalation zone.

Civilians in settlements in towns located in the de-escalation zones are receiving humanitarian assistance.

On October 4, a humanitarian convoy of the United Nations, Syrian Arab Red Crescent, and International Committee of the Red Cross was formed and sent to al-Khula (Homs province).

59 trucks have delivered 295 tons of humanitarian cargos, including food and medical supplies as well as bare necessities.

Moreover, UN humanitarian convoys delivered humanitarian cargos to Daraa province from al-Ramta, Jordan.

Citizens of Khel received 60 tons of food and medical supplies as well as household items. Civilians received 30 tons of food and medical supplies in Hajmi.

In Muaddamiyet al-Shikh, Damascus province, the city medical centre is being recovered. The medical centre will provide ambulatory medical treatment.

Al-Basel Hospital in Homs city is being recovered. New equipment is being installed and fixed in the laboratory. 400 persons can be treated there.
