People killed in terrorist attack on Police Department in Damascus

A terrorist group attacked al-Midan Police Department in Damascus city on Monday, leaving a number of persons dead.
In a statement to reporters while inspecting the attack site, Interior Minister Lt. Gen. Mohammad al-Shaar said two terrorists attacked the guard members at al-Midan Police Department with a number of bombs, causing the death of a number of personnel. After that, one of the terrorists blew himself up with an explosive belt right in front of the main gate of the department.
The Minister added that the other terrorist, also wearing an explosive belt, infiltrated the first floor, where police personnel clashed with him and managed to kill him, causing the explosion of the belt.
Al-Shaar added that the terrorist attack caused the death of a number Internal Security personnel and civilians who were at the department.
Tourjman: Terrorist attack on al-Midan Police Department is desperate attempt to raise terrorists’ morale.
Meanwhile, Information Minister Mohammad Ramez Tourjman affirmed that the terrorist attack on al-Midan Police Department is a desperate attempt to raise collapsed morale of the terrorist organizations after the large defeats inflicted upon them by the Syrian Arab Army.
Tourjman said in a statement that the terrorist attack that targeted the Syrian civilians came as an implementation to the instructions of terrorism supporters in the framework of their desperate attempts to prolong the span of the crisis and increase the Syrian people’s suffering.
He called on the international community to take deterrent and punitive measures against the regimes that back terrorism.
President al-Assad: Syrian Army’s victories paved the way to restarting economic activity and beginning reconstruction

President Bashar al-Assad on Monday received a Russian delegation including senior economic officials and representatives of major companies from Russia, headed by Deputy Energy Minister Kirill Molodtsov.
Talks during the meeting touched on the strategic relation between Syria and Russia and the need to bolster it by developing economic and trade cooperation and expanding joint investments, particularly in the fields of petroleum, gas, phosphates, transport, pharmaceuticals, and water resources.
The two sides also stressed the need to speed up the process of rebuilding what terrorism had destroyed in Syria.
President al-Assad said that the achievements realized by the Syrian Arab Army with the support of friendly countries, mainly Russia, and the resulting return of security and stability to many areas in Syria has paved the way to restarting economic activity and beginning the reconstruction process.
His Excellency noted that it’s natural for the countries that supported the Syrian people in their war against terrorism to take part in rebuilding Syria.
For his part, Molodtsov said that participating in rebuilding Syria is one of the priorities of many Russian companies, underlining the need to benefit from the huge opportunities in this field to serve the interests of the countries and their peoples.
The Deputy Minister asserted that Russia’s people, leadership, and government are determined to continue providing all sorts of support to the Syrian people in the face of the terrorist war until the final goal of eliminating terrorism completely across the entirety of Syria is achieved.
Army thwarts fierce terrorist attack in eastern Homs, targets ISIS positions in Deir Ezzor

Army units established control over the villages of al-Qasimiyeh , al-Shemalieh, rabe’a, Mghezel northeast of Jub al-Jarrah in Homs eastern countryside.
Earlier, the army units foiled a fierce terrorist attack attempt by ISIS terrorists on military positions at the surrounding of al-Soukhna town to the east of Palmyra city in Homs province.
SANA reporter said that the surveillance system monitored a convoy of vehicles that belongs to ISIS moving from the depth of the Badiya area (desert) on the axis of the third station towards al-Soukhna town.
The reporter pointed out that army units, with a cover of the Air Force, dealt with the terrorist attack, destroying seven vehicles at least and killing and injuring a number of terrorists in al-Mokharram area to the southwest of al-Soukhna.
A military source said that the Army Air Force carried out intensive airstrikes against ISIS fortifications and movement axes in the cities of Mohassan and al-Mayadin and in the village of Buqros al-Tahtani and Taibat Shamiya in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor province.
In the western countryside, according to the source, the airstrikes targeted ISIS movement axes in the village of Faida Bin Mwain’a, 85 km southwest of Deir Ezzor city.
The source said that the army airstrikes left a number of ISIS terrorists dead, in addition to destroying their armored vehicles and fortifications supplied with mortar launchers.

Russian International Mine Action Centre experts have started clearing roads leading to welfare objects (such as medical centres, water and power supply stations) in liberated Deir ez-Zor
In order to provide safe passage for humanitarian convoys, Russian field engineers are clearing up roads and buildings in surrounding area leading to the city.
Over the last 24 hours the engineers have checked and cleared 3,5 km of roads, 81 buildings and 21 ha within the city. 900 pieces of explosive ordnance have been detected and eliminated with 694 of them industrially manufactured.
Illegal armed formations are laying down arms in de-escalation zones.
As a result of the Russian Centre for reconciliation of opposing sides functioning jointly with the National Reconciliation Committee (Homs de-escalation zone), 16 representatives of Ahrar al-Sham illegal armed formation.
Besides, over the last 24 hours, armed opposition has signed an agreement joining Umm Sharshuh settlement (Homs province) to ceasefire regime in Homs de-escalation zone.
Destroyed infrastructure is being recovered in Syrian cities.
In the settlement of Kreya (As-Suwayda) a conveyer system of a bakery has been repaired and put into operation. The bakery is producing pastry to meet 50% of public demand.
In the city of Homs, restoring of al-Malek Birth Centre is nearing its completion to provide medical care to expectant mothers and newborns.
