Large-scale military operation against ISIS terrorists continues across Syria

The wide-scale military operation against ISIS and other terrorist organizations’ hideouts and gatherings is continued across the Syrian provinces.

In Deir Ezzor, according to a military source, the Syrian Air Force on Sunday carried out intensive airstrikes against positions of ISIS terrorists in the villages of al-Boulil and al-Muhassan city in the eastern countryside.

The source said that scores of terrorists were killed in the airstrikes and one of their armored vehicles was destroyed, in addition to destroying a number of their machinegun-equipped cars and varied types of machineguns, positions, fortifications and mortar launchers.

SANA reporter said that army units engaged in heavy clashes with ISIS terrorists on the axes of Khsham/Hatla Fouqani and al-Bo Omar in the northeastern and eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.

As a result of the clashes, a number of ISIS terrorists were killed or injured, in addition to the destruction of their weapons.

The reporter pointed out that the army’s air force and artillery directed strikes on ISIS sites and movements in the villages of Khsham, al-Jneina, al-Husseiniya and Huweijet Saqr and the neighborhoods of al-Huweiqa, al-Jbeila, al-Sheikh Yassin and Kanamat, destroying command centers, fortifications, sites and 3 vehicles equipped with heavy machineguns.

In Hama, a series of sorties also targeted positions and fortifications of ISIS terrorists in the besieged pocket in the eastern countryside of al-Salamiyeh city in Hama Province.

The military source said that the strikes targeted gatherings and supply lines of ISIS in the villages of Akash, Abu Hanaya, Rasem al-Abed and to the southeast of al-Uqairbat town in the eastern countryside of al-Salamiyeh.

The source said that the strikes hit the targets accurately, inflicting heavy losses upon the terrorists in personnel and weaponry where several armored vehicles, cars equipped with machineguns and mortar launchers were destroyed.

The Air Force also intensified its strikes on ISIS terrorists’ sites and the their supply routes to the east of al-Sokhneh city in the countryside of Homs.

The military source said that the strikes resulted in killing and wounding a number of terrorists and destroying their weapons, some of them armored and others equipped with heavy machine guns, in addition to destroying artillery and mortars launching pads.

Syrian Army Retakes Control of Key Hill in Southeastern Damascus

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian army and its allied forces regained control of strategic Um Azan hill North-East of al-Zalaf dam in the Southeastern countryside of Damascus, inflicting heavy losses on the terrorists.

Several ISIL terrorists were killed and their military equipment and vehicles were also destroyed in tough battle with the Syrian army over controlling Um Azan hill.

The army troops captured an area covering 150 square kilometers of land in the Eastern countryside of Sweida to the East of al-Zalaf dam.

A military news outlet run by the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement said on Saturday that the newly-recaptured positions were all situated to the southeast of the capital Damascus.

The Syrian army’s attack killed and wounded militants, the report added without elaborating on their number.

In a relevant development in late August, the Syrian army forces advanced in the Southeastern parts of Damascus, gaining back control of several bordering areas with Jordan.

The army troops continued military operations in Southeastern Damascus, retaking control of several bordering areas with Jordan, from Point 154 to Point 160.

The bordering areas of Syria with Jordan in Damascus province include Points 155 to 211 as well as Points 128 to 154 in Sweida province.

Relevant reports said on Saturday that the Syrian army troops have fortified their positions along 30km of borderline with Jordan and managed to closed off the main supply routes of the terrorist groups from Jordan to the Southern part of the war-hit country.

Field sources said that the army men carried out a large-scale operation in Southern Sweida from al-Zalaf dam to the heights overlooking Tal (hill) al-Zab’a, Tal Zabi’ah, Tal Riyahi, Tal Asadah, Beir al-Sawt passageway and Abu Sharshouh region and managed to access the border with Jordan.

The army men took full control of all the border positions and checkpoints, the source said, adding that the army units imposed control over 30km of Sweida’s border with Jordan and later fortified their positions along the border.

The source underlined the importance of the army’s new advances and said that the army soldiers have cut off all the supply lines of terrorists from Beir al-Sawt passageway up to Abu Sharshouh that were considered as the main passageways for trafficking of arms and ammunition to Damascus and Sweida provinces and Badiyeh (desert).

Syrian Army Clashes with ISIL Suicide Attackers in Quaryatayn

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian Army engaged in fierce clashes with several ISIL terrorists who had attacked the government forces’ positions near the city of al-Quaryatarn South-East of Homs province.

The army units warded off repeated assaults of suicide attackers by killing all of them, purging the al-Quaryatayn region of ISIL terrorists once again.

Further to the East, the pro-government forces continued to smash ISIL’s defense lines on Saturday, driving the terrorists back from another strategic town.

The army men engaged in fierce clashes with ISIL East of the town of al-Salamiyah and captured the key town of Souha.

Battlefield reports mentioned a large number of casualties on the side of the militants.

In a relevant development on Saturday, the Syrian Air Force staged heavy bombardment on ISIL’s defense lines in Eastern Homs, inflicting major losses on the terrorists.

The army aircraft targeted ISIL’s positions East of Humeimeh region in Eastern Homs, killing and wounding a number of terrorists and destroying their military equipment.

Relevant reports said on Friday that the army men and popular forces continued to advance against ISIL in Eastern Homs and managed to capture the village of Rasm al-Aqidat in Jubb al-Jarrah region after taking control over the village of al-Showeiha.

The army soldiers fortified their positions after they completed mop-up and demining operations in the newly-captured villages.

The Syrian Army and their allies are now deployed only 12km North of Shandakhiyah as government troops say, “ISIL’s presence in Eastern Homs is nearly over.”

Over 2,300 ISIL, Al-Nusra Front Terrorists Killed in Russian Airstrikes in Syria in 11 Days

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Russian airstrikes on the military positions of the terrorist groups in Syria have left thousands of terrorists dead and wounded in less than two weeks, Defense Ministry announced.

“A sum of 2,359 terrorists of the ISIL and Al-Nusra Front (Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at or the Levant Liberation Board) have been killed and over 2,700 others have been wounded in the Russian airstrikes across Syrian from September 19 to September 29,” the Russian Defense Ministry said.

It noted that 16 field commanders and over 400 citizens of former Soviet Union republics are among the casualties.

“The ISIL and Al-Nusra Front Terrorist groups have sustained their most serious losses for the last several months; due to the effective operations of the Russian forces, they have been seriously weakened,” the ministry’s statement said.

The ministry said that over 11 days Russian aircraft destroyed 67 militant outposts, 51 armories, 27 tanks, 21 rocket launchers and nearly 200 specialized vehicles belonging to the Islamist groups.

The ministry said that the air strikes helped repel counter-offensives by militants in the provinces of Idlib and Deir Ezzur. A region on the Iraqi border, Deir Ezzur has seen some of the heaviest fighting anywhere in Syria over the past few months.

“With help from the Russian Air Force, the Syrian army is currently completing the encirclement and destruction of a large Islamic State force, numbering about 1,500 fighters, which invaded from Iraq, in the eastern part of Deir Ezzur,” said the ministry.

September 30 marked the second anniversary of the Russian army’s involvement in the Syrian conflict, at the behest of the government of Syrian President Bashar Assad. Moscow recently said that government forces have retaken control of 87 percent of the country’s territory.

New humanitarian aid convoy arrives in Deir Ezzor city

A 6-truck humanitarian aid convoy provided by the Monastery of Mar Yakub (St James) the Mutilated arrived in the city of Deir Ezzor on Sunday.

The supplies included food and health packages, water filters, vegetables and wheelchairs.

Deir Ezzor Governor Mohammad Ibrahim Samra met Mother Superior of the Monastery of Mar Yakub, Fadia al-Laham, and the delegation accompanied the convoy and discussed with them ways to increase the services and humanitarian assistance provided by the Convent to the people of the eastern province, recently liberated from ISIS terrorists.

In a statement to SANA, Mother al-Laham said work is underway, in cooperation with Deir Ezzor governorate, to open a kitchen that will provide meals to 5000 families per day, in addition to providing hundreds of job opportunities.

She added that the a societal center will be opened in Deir Ezzor to provide psychological support and empower the individuals’ capabilities to achieve economic recovery in the city.

She also referred to providing two clinic-equipped ambulances to the Directorate of Health, along with employing a medical team to provide health services to needy people.

Syria in Last 24 Hours Summary

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian army continued its military operations in Homs province by purging terrorists from key areas.

The army units drove back the ISIL terrorists from several regions in Eastern Homs and paved their way to recapture more lands there.

The Syrian troops killed several terrorists and injured many more in fierce clashes over controlling of strategic regions. They also destroyed military equipment of the terrorists.

The Syrian army also continued its advances in other key provinces across Syria.

Homs

Pro-government forces in Syria continued to smash ISIL’s defense lines in Eastern Homs, driving terrorist back from another strategic town on Saturday.

The army men engaged in fierce clashes with ISIL East of the town of al-Salamiyah and captured the key town of Souha.

Battlefield reports mentioned a large number of casualties on the side of the militants.

A police source reported earlier today that five people, including two children, were injured in ISIL’s rocket attacks on the town of al-Salamiyah, around 30 km East of Hama city.

A source at Hama Police Command told the country’s state news agency that ISIL terrorists fired 4 rocket shells on residential areas in al-Salamiyah, East of Hama province, injuring a child and causing material damage to citizens’ houses and properties.

The agency further said that the ISIL terrorists fired 5 more rockets at al-Salamiyah later in the day, injuring 4 people including a girl, and causing damage to people’s houses.

Damascus

The Syrian Air Force and military helicopters staged heavy assaults on terrorists’ defense lines and strongholds in Eastern Ghouta and in the Southwestern territories of Damascus province near the border with Lebanon on Saturday.

The fighter jets bombed terrorists’ positions in Jobar and Ein Terma regions in Eastern Damascus, inflicting heavy casualties on the gunmen.

In the meantime, the choppers targeted the positions of Al-Nusra Front (Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at or the Levant Liberation Board) in the town of Beit Jinn, South-West of Damascus province, killing and wounding a number of terrorists.

Militant-affiliated news websites reported last week that the Syrian Army forwarded a long convoy of armored vehicles and tanks along with a large number of fresh soldiers to the last bastion of the terrorists in the Western part of Damascus province.

The websites reported that the army sent 21 tanks, 16 BMP armored vehicles and tens of military vehicles along with a large number of forces to areas surrounding the militant-held town of Beit Jinn in Western Damascus.

Beit Jinn has been considered as the last stronghold of the terrorists in the Western part of Damascus province after their comrades in Darayya endorsed a peace agreement with the army last year.

Deir Ezzur

The Syrian Army troops repelled ISIL’s heavy attack on their positions along a chunk of Deir Ezzur-Palmyra highway in Western Deir Ezzur, inflicting heavy casualties on the terrorists.

The army men engaged in fierce clashes with ISIL and warded off their offensive in several positions along the highway that connects the towns of al-Shoula to Kabajeb.

The army killed and injured tens of terrorists and destroyed several military vehicles in the clashes.

Field sources confirmed that Deir Ezzur’s road to Raqqa province and also the road that connects 137th Artillery Brigade Base to Jabal al-Bushri region are both safe and secure now.

A military source reported that the Syrian warplanes and helicopters carried out a number of combat sorties over ISIL’s movements along a highway connecting Deir Ezzur and Palmyra cities to each other, inflicting major losses on the terrorists.

The source said that the army aircraft and choppers targeted heavily ISIL’s positions and movements in the battlefield along Deir Ezzur-Palmyra highway and nearby regions in Western Deir Ezzur and Eastern Homs, killing and wounding a large number of terrorists and destroying their military equipment in large scale.

The source further said that the Syrian Army troops are now carrying out mop-up operations to hunt the remaining pockets of ISIL terrorists in the region and restore security to the highway.

The source added that the army men also fended off ISIL’s heavy attacks on the government forces’ positions in Humeimeh and T3 regions South of the town of al-Sukhnah in Eastern Homs, killing and wounding scores of terrorists.

Hama

The Russian Defense Ministry said in a report that gunmen in two more settlements in Hama province joined truce with the Syrian army and government.

The ministry said that ceasefire agreements with militant groups were signed in two settlements in Hama over the past 24 hours as the situation in the country is gradually improving.

“Environment in Syria is being stabilized, and civilians are returning home. Over the last 24 hours, ceasefire agreements have been signed with representatives of illegal armed formations in two settlements – Qubaybat Abu al-Huda and Zighrin (Hama province),” Spokesman of the ministry’s Center for Syrian Reconciliation Lt. Gen. Sergei Kuralenko said at a briefing.

Three humanitarian operations have been carried out over the past day to deliver more than 4 tons of food supplies to the citizens of Khan al-Shih in Damascus province. A sum of 350 food sets weighing 2 tons were also delivered to Tel Shnan in Homs province and 1.8 tons of food supplies were distributed among citizens of Humeimeh al-Kabirah in Aleppo province, the spokesman added.

Ceasefire observation

Control groups continue monitoring the ceasefire observation within the implementation of the Memorandum on creation of the de-escalation zones in the Syrian Arab Republic, which had been signed by the Russia, Turkey, and Iran on May 4, 2017.

Situation in the de-escalation zones is assessed as stable.

Over the last 24 hours, the Russian party of the Russia-Turkey Commission on violations of the Joint Agreement has registered 6 cases of firing in the provinces of Damascus (1), Aleppo (3), Latakia (1), and Homs (1).

The Turkish party has registered no cases of ceasefire violations.

Humanitarian aid provided to the Syrian population

Over the last 24 hours, no humanitarian actions have been held by the Russian Reconciliation Centre in Syria.

Medical assistance has been provided to 85 civilians.

In total, 57,977 people have received medical aid.

Reconciliation of opposing sides

Over the last 24 hours, one ceasefire agreement has been signed with representatives of Umm Sharshukh in Homs province.

Total number of settlements that had signed reconciliation agreements is 2, 240.

Negotiations on joining ceasefire regime have been continued with field commanders of detachments of armed opposition in the Aleppo, Damascus, Homs, Hama, and al-Quneitra provinces.

The number of armed formations, which have claimed to observe the ceasefire regime, is 234.
