ISIL’s Front on Verge of Full Collapse in Eastern Syria

TEHRAN (FNA)- Local sources confirmed on Friday that a large number of ISIL commanders have fled the battlefield following the Syria Army’s rapid advances in Deir Ezzur, pushing the terrorist front in the region to total collapse.

The sources said that two groups of ISIL engaged in heavy fighting in the town of Albu Kamal in Southeastern Deir Ezzur, leaving a number of casualties on both sides.

In the meantime, the ISIL has intensified its suicide attacks on army positions in several flanks following the rapid advances of the army and the Syrian Democratic Forces in Deir Ezzur province, the sources said.

They added that continued escape of ISIL commanders from the battlefield has pushed the terrorist group towards complete collapse.

Just as the ISIL’s reign in Eastern Syria began to effectively diminish, the terrorist group has also launched an all-out counteroffensive on different fronts of the oil-rich province.

The Syrian army troops and Air Force launched assault on ISIL in and around the city of Deir Ezzur on Wednesday.

The army units engaged in fierce clashes with ISIL near Huweija Sakar in the Southeastern outskirts of Deir Ezzur city, destroying several positions and two military vehicles.

Also, the army’s artillery and aircraft targeted ISIL’s positions in the village of al-Hosseiniyeh Northeast of Deir Ezzur city and in the neighborhoods of al-Huweiqa, al-Arzi, Khasarat and Kanamat, killing a number of terrorists and destroying their equipment.

Deir Ezzor, SANA

Army units repelled a large-scale ISIS attack on the international Deir-Ezzor-Palmyra highway in the Syrian Badia.

According to SANA reporter, groups of ISIS terrorists launched over the past hours a fierce assault against points of the army units protecting the international highway in al-Shoula and Kabajib area.

Covered by military warplanes and helicopters, the army units and the allied and supporting forces confronted the attack, leaving deaths and losses in the terrorists’ ranks, the reporter said, adding that the army units are now working on clearing the area of the fleeing ISIS terrorists to fully secure the highway.

In the meantime, fierce clashes erupted between the army units, backed by the Air Force, and ISIS terrorists in Huweijet Saqr and on the axis of Khsham and Hatla Fouqani, while the army’s Artillery targeted movements and hideouts of ISIS in Hatla and the neighborhoods of al-Rushdiyeh, al-Huweiqeh, al-Ardi, Knamat and Khsarat.

Many terrorists were killed, others were injured and several of their vehicles and hideouts were destroyed as a result of the clashes.

Syrian Fighter Jets, Choppers Turn Western Deir Ezzur into Hell for Terrorists

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian warplanes and helicopters carried out a number of combat sorties over ISIL’s movements along a highway connecting Deir Ezzur and Palmyra cities to each other, inflicting major losses on the terrorists, a military source reported Friday.

The source said that the army aircraft and choppers targeted heavily ISIL’s positions and movements in the battlefield along Deir Ezzur-Palmyra highway and nearby regions in Western Deir Ezzur and Eastern Homs, killing and wounding a large number of terrorists and destroying their military equipment in large scale.

The source further said that the Syrian Army troops are now carrying out mop-up operations to hunt the remaining pockets of ISIL terrorists in the region and restore security to the highway.

The source added that the army men also fended off ISIL’s heavy attacks on the government forces’ positions in Humeimeh and T3 regions South of the town of al-Sukhnah in Eastern Homs, killing and wounding scores of terrorists.

Relevant reports said on Thursday that the army was preparing to stage massive operations in Southern Deir Ezzur to reach the strategic city of al-Mayadeen.

A military source said that the army was reading for the operations and would move towards this vital region from two fronts.

He added that the army would advance from the East (al-Dowikhileh region) towards T2 station as the first front and towards Feizat Ibn Mawina region to pave the ground for advancing towards the two towns of al-Mayadeen and Kabajeb.

The source said that the army’s control over Feizat Ibn Mawina would cut the ISIL supply routes towards T2 station, al-Mayadeen would be separated from the adjacent areas and the ISIL would be surrounded in a region from Eastern al-Sukhnah and Northern Humeimeh to Southern al-Shouleh.

He also said that the Russian and Syrian fighter jets pounded the ISIL positions in al-Mayadeen in the past few days to pave the ground for the Syrian army attack against the strategic region.

ISIL Terrorists Trapped in Deir Ezzur City, Outskirts

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian Army forces continued their rapid advances on the Eastern bank of the Euphrates River and completed siege of the ISIL terrorists in Deir Ezzur city and its outskirts on Friday.

The army men continued to advance against ISIL along a road connecting Deir Ezzur to al-Basireh region on the Eastern bank of the Euphrates River and captured a chunk of the road and a part of the region.

The army soldiers laid siege on ISIL in al-Hosseiniyeh settlement and the remaining region on the Eastern bank of the river with their recent advances, completing circle of forces around Deir Ezzur city.

Also, fierce clashes are now underway between the army and ISIL in al-Sina’ah region and other neighborhoods in the city.

In the meantime, a Syrian Army officer told RT on Thursday that after the siege of Deir Ezzur was breached, the Syrian army, supported by the Russian Air Force, encountered ISIL’s resistance in the surrounding neighborhoods of the city.

“Every day there is combat (between the army and ISIL). They (ISIL terrorists) use heavy weapons from (different) range, or they’ll try to prevail over the army’s positions in the middle of the night. They attack with suicide vests and bomb-laden cars. The battle goes on everyday,” he said.

“The city of Deir Ezzur will be liberated in a week, at the most. And we’ll free some of the suburbs too. The cost will undoubtedly be high… it’s a challenging battleground. From dense urban areas – to lush river banks and even trenches,” Ibrahim noted.

Securing the rest of Deir Ezzur province might prove to be more difficult, as Moscow and Damascus fear that while Washington claims it is focused on fighting ISIL terrorists, on the ground, the US-led forces act in a different manner.

Syrian Army Close to Purging Eastern Homs of Terrorists

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian Army stormed ISIL’s defense lines in Eastern Homs and managed to push the terrorists back from more positions in the Central parts of the country on Friday.

The army men and popular forces continued to advance against ISIL in Eastern Homs and managed to capture the village of Rasm al-Aqidat in Jubb al-Jarrah region after taking control over the village of al-Showeiha.

The army soldiers fortified their positions after they completed mop-up and demining operations in the newly-captured villages.

The Syrian Army and their allies are now deployed only 12km North of Shandakhiyah as government troops say, “ISIL’s presence in Eastern Homs is nearly over.”

Reports said on Thursday that 25 towns, townships and villages as well as one city joined the peace plan in Northern Homs in war-hit Syria.

According to a peace agreement between the Syrian army, in cooperation with the Russian Reconciliation Center for Syria, and the representatives of several regions in Northern Homs, al-Rastan city along with the villages and towns of al-Kan, Rouzeh, Ezzeddin, Qunaytarat, al-Zaherieh, Kafarnan, Kissin, Housh Kafarnan, Housh al-Zabadi, Um Sharshouh, Marhouj, Housh al-Akrad, al-Sourah, al-Farhaniyeh, al-Khazamiyeh, Kafar Laha, Taldo, al-Zantou, al-Dar al-Kabireh, al-Khalediyeh, al-Jaloudiyeh, Haboub al-Rih, al-Jassemiyeh, Taldahab and Western al-Tayebat joined the peace plan.

Government Forces Recapture Lost Lands by Russian Air Support in Eastern, Central Syria

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian Army troops, backed up by Russian heavy air raids, managed to drive ISIL out of the hills and regions the terrorists captured in Western Deir Ezzur and Eastern Homs yesterday.

The army soldiers, backed up by heavy Russian airstrikes, commenced a powerful attack on ISIL’s positions along the broad front stretching from the small town of al-Sukhnah in Eastern Homs to the town of al-Shoula in Western Deir Ezzur on Friday morning.

Most of the hilltops and points initially captured by ISIL around al-Sukhnah and the M20 highway have been re-secured by the Syrian Army and the terrorist group now find themselves pinned down in al-Shouleh where a high-pitched battle within and around the town is now taking place.

Despite claims from opposition sources that al-Sukhnah and the town of Kabajeb were captured by the ISIL, the fact remains that ISIL never took full control of the settlements (coming nowhere close to doing so in the case of al-Sukhnah) and that the Syrian Army currently holds full control of both.

30 ISIL terrorists have so far been killed in the course of the Syrian Army’s heavy attack.

He also said that the Russian and Syrian fighter jets pounded the ISIL positions in al-Mayadeen in the past few days to pave the ground for the Syrian army attack against the strategic region.

Hundreds of ISIL Gunmen Join SDF in Eastern Syria

TEHRAN (FNA)- A tribal leader in Eastern Syria said hundreds of ISIL militants have joined the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) amid intensifying tension between the Syrian Army troops and the US-backed SDF in Deir Ezzur province.

The Arabic-language al-Watan paper quoted Sheikh Mohammad Amlah al-Daham, the leader of al-Akidat tribe that is one of the largest tribes in Syria as saying that almost 500 ISIL gunmen that had fled the battlefields have joined the SDF in the town of al-Shaddadi in Southern Hasaka amid the Syrian Army troops’ rapid advances in Deir Ezzur.

Al-Daham further told al-Watan that the SDF in cooperation with Washington are to take control over Syria’s oil and other resources, adding, “We, Syrian tribe-men, do not believe in the SDF and the US as they just want to hoist SDF’s flag in the country.”

Relevant reports said last week that a new group of ISIL terrorists, including a senior commander, fled Eastern Deir Ezzur amid the rapid advances of the Syrian Army troops in the province.

Local sources pointed to the continuing trend of ISIL terrorists’ fleeing from Deir Ezzur, and said Nasr al-Shamri nom de guerre Jahjah, a notorious ISIL commander, has fled al-Basireh region in Eastern Deir Ezzur.

Syria, Jordan Give Ultimatum to Militants to Hand Over Nassib Border-Crossing

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian and Jordanian Armed Forces have given a last ultimatum to the terrorists to retreat from Nassib border-crossing in Dara’a province fast, a Syrian media outlet reported on Friday, adding that Damascus and Amman are insisting on the immediate reopening of the border-crossing.

The Arabic-language al-Watan daily quoted Khalid al-Khatb, one of the well-informed sources in talks with the terrorists in Dara’a as saying that Amman has announced to the terrorist commanders, deployed in Jordan, that the Nassib border-crossing will be reopened soon whether they agree or not.

The daily added that the Syrian Army has also underlined its own conditions for the reopening of the border-crossing.

Al-Khatib told al-Watan that the Syrian Army has dispatched a large number of forces and a large volume of military equipment to the Southern city of Dara’a, adding that if the terrorists do not comply with the army’s conditions, the border-crossing will be reopened by military force.

In the meantime, militant-affiliated news websites quoted the sources as saying that the Syrian government has given an ultimatum to the terrorists in the region, warning that the pro-government forces will start military operations to reopen the border-crossing if the terrorists refuse to accept their terms.

Al-Watan revealed on Thursday that Washington ordered the terrorist groups in Dara’a not to deliver the control of Nassib passageway to the Syrian army.

It reported that the terrorists’ meeting, within the framework of Dara’a local council, with the Jordanian officials on reopening Nassib passageway and delivering its control to the Syrian army ended without any agreement with the militants.

It quoted observers as saying that the terrorists had earlier agreed to deliver the control of the passageway to the Syrian government but the Americans prevented them after facing the army’s rapid advances in several fronts and increased tensions between Washington and Moscow.
