Army Chief of Staff Visits Units Operating in al-Sukhna City in Homs Countryside

Upon the directives of the Commander-in-Chief of the army and armed forces, President Bashar al-Assad, the army’s Chief of Staff, Gen. Ali Abdullah Ayoub visited on Monday the army units operating in al-Sukhna city and the surrounding areas in eastern countryside of Homs.

During the tour, Major general Ayoub was briefed on the volume of destruction left by ISIS terrorists there.

Major General Ayoub met the field commanders and soldiers at their sites, conveying to them the amity of President al-Assad and his appreciation of their sacrifices in the war against ISIS terrorist organization.

He praised the courage of the soldiers and their heroism to liberate al-Sukhna city and the high morale they enjoy, affirming that this achievement is a starting point to defeat what remains of terrorist cells in the region and a juncture to set off towards Deir Ezzor.

General Ayoub raised the Syrian flag over the public square of al-Sukhna.

The field commanders and soldiers, for their part, stressed their determination to go ahead in fulfilling their duties in the fight against terrorism and restore stability and security to all Syrian territories.

The Syrian Arab Army, in cooperation with the backup forces, established on Sunday full control over al-Sukhna city , 70 km northeast of Palmyra, after intensive operations against ISIS terrorist organization.


Army downs ISIS RC plane carrying explosives in Deir Ezzor

Units of the Army and Armed Forces downed an ISIS radio-controlled plane carrying explosives in the surroundings of Deir Ezzor Airport as part of their continued operations against ISIS in Deir Ezzor city and its surroundings.

SANA’s reporter in Deir Ezzor said that the Deir Ezzor Airport garrison clashed with a group of ISIS terrorists in the surroundings of the Airport and downed a radio-controlled plane carrying explosives and equipped with a camera before arriving at its target.

The source added that an army unit killed a number of ISIS terrorists and destroyed one of their hideouts in al-Rashdiyeh neighborhood in the city.

Meanwhile, the Syrian Air Force carried out airstrikes targeting the ISIS fortifications and movements in the villages of al-Shoula, al-Bghiliyeh, the Cemeteries, Aiyyash, Ein al-Bujumaa and the Panorama area, destroying their fortifications, weapons, and ammunition and leaving a number of them dead or injured.

In the same context, local sources said that a number of young men killed the so-called Emirs of the recruits in al-Mayadin and Abu Kamal, terrorists Jadallah Abdel-Ra’of and Ziad al-Noubi, both of whom were Egyptians.

A group of locals killed 3 terrorists who were moving on Abu Kamal-Hasibeh road and destroyed their car, while another group of locals in the eastern countryside of the province killed 7 terrorists among them 4 from foreign nationalities in al-Katef area in Abu Kamal city.

Large numbers of ISIS terrorists escaped from the province, including one of their leaders named Youssef al-Marhoun, according to the sources.

Terrorists from ISIS executed one person in al-Tebni town in the northwestern countryside of Deir Ezzor and killed another while he was trying to escape from the terrorist organization in al-Kasrah town in the northern countryside of the province.


Army units launched intensive operations against ISIS in the eastern countryside of Homs, establishing control over the towns and villages of al-Koum, Wahit al-Koum, Jorit al-Jamal, al-Othmania, Njiran, Ayn Sabkha and Um Qabiba.

A large numbers of ISIS terrorists were killed in the operations, in addition to the destruction of 2 tanks, 4 vehicles equipped with machineguns and dismantling of many of IEDs.


Army units, in cooperation with backup forces, advanced 10 km to the direction of Athrya to southeast of Katfa in the eastern countryside of Hama, having control over a number of strategic hills and heights in the area.

Russian Defense Ministry appreciates Army’s air drop operation behind ISIS lines

The Russian Defense Ministry hailed the landing operation conducted by the units of the Syrian Arab Army in the depth of ISIS’ spreading areas between the countryside of Raqqa and Homs, describing it as “skilled ”.

“Overnight to August 12, for the first time since the beginning of combat operations against the terrorist organization of ISIS in Syria, Syrian government forces organized and conducted a skilled tactical landing operation behind terrorists’ lines with their subsequent defeat and liberation of the town of al-Kadir, about 120 kilometers west of Deir Ezzor,” the ministry said in a statement.

It affirmed that the operation was conducted under the command of General Suheil al-Hassan, one of Syria’s most renowned military commanders.

“Russian military advisers took direct part in the preparation of the operation and control over it,” the ministry noted.

On August 12th, Army units, in cooperation with the backup forces, conducted a night air drop 20 km behind the fronts of the ISIS terrorist organization to the south of al-Kadir town between Raqqa and Homs.

The army’s successful airdrop contributed to the advancement of the army units and the backup forces 21km to establish full control over Khirbet Makman and al-Kadir town, and to the advancement 12 km to the southeast of Raqqa to establish control over Bei al-Rahoum village.

Huge numbers of the ISIS terrorists were killed in the operations, in addition to destroying 3 tanks, 17 machinegun-equipped vehicles and 7 cars rigged with explosives and two tanks and a number of artillery pieces were seized.
