Over 100,000 Civilians Have Left Eastern Aleppo


HMEYMIM /Syria/, December 12. /TASS/. The Syrian authorities are fully controlling more than 95% of Aleppo’s territory, the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of the Warring Parties in Syria reported on Monday.

“Over the past 24 hours, the Syrian government army has liberated another three quarters in the eastern part of Aleppo (Sheikh Saeed, Karim-Khum and Al-Maqamad) from terrorists. The Syrian authorities are thus fully controlling over 95% of Aleppo’s territory, while the total area of the neighborhoods in the eastern part of the city held by militants does not exceed 10 square kilometers, the Center said.

More than 100,000 civilians including 40,000 children have left eastern Aleppo assisted by the personnel of the Russian Center for Reconciliation since the operation to free the city from militants began:

“Since the Syrian troops began the operation to free Aleppo, the officers of the Russian Center for Reconciliation have evacuated more than 100,000 civilians including 40,484 children from the city.”

More than 12,000 militants have laid down weapons, of whom 2,100 have been amnestied:

“A total of 2,215 militants have laid down weapons and withdrew to areas controlled by the Syrian authorities. In conformity with the Syrian president’s decisions, as many as 2,137 militants have been granted amnesty. The rest are being checked,” according to the Center’s data.
