Foreign and Expatriates Ministry affirmed on Tuesday that the random shelling by the armed terrorist organizations against residential safe neighborhoods in a number of Syrian cities is a continuation of the series of killing and destruction perpetrated by these organizations which aim to make the cessation of hostilities agreement a failure.
“Jabhat al-Nusra and other affiliated terrorist organizations, run by operation rooms in Turkey, which are positioned in the surrounding regions of Aleppo, randomly targeted Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo and the near safe neighborhoods with tens of rocket and mortar shells, killing 15 citizens and injuring more than 100 others, among them women and children,” the Ministry said in two identical letters sent to the UN Secretary-General and President of Security Council.
It added that the attack caused the falling of three residential buildings in al-Sheikh Maqsoud, and efforts are still underway to rescue the civilians besieged under the debris of the collapsed buildings.
“Terrorists of Jabhat al-Nusra and other armed terrorist groups targeted on Monday al-Foua and Kafrya towns in Idleb countryside and Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo, killing 8 citizens and injuring more than 20 others… and terrorists of the Islamic State, ISIS, also shelled civilians in Deir Ezzor neighborhoods, killing 5 civilians and wounding tens of innocents… they also targeted Deir Ezzor airport with mustard gas, causing cases of suffocation among the defenders of the airport,” the letters said.
The two letters went on to say that the terrorist organizations, whom their loyalties are known to all, aim at foiling the measures adopted by the United Nations regarding the cessation of hostilities agreement in Syria.
The Ministry added that Syria reiterates its respect for Security Council resolutions relevant to the cessation of hostilities agreement, calling it to take all the deterrent measures against the regimes and governments that support and finance terrorism in an implementation of Security Council relevant resolutions, particularly No. 2170, 2178, 2199 and 2253.
