Russian Combat Experts to Lead Imminent Anti-ISIL Operation in Homs

TEHRAN (FNA)- Russian military experts have arrived in Southeastern Homs province and have been deployed at the government forces’ headquarters to lead the Syrian army’s imminent operation to liberate the ancient Assyrian town of Quaryatayn.

Over 4,500 military personnel have been deployed to the Eastern Qalamoun front and the Syrian army is preparing for their final assault to liberate Quaryatayn from the ISIL terrorists.

The Syrian Armed Forces will be responsible for carrying out this large-scale military operation, the Russian military advisers, who played an integral role in the government’s victory at Palmyra (Tadmur), will also supervise the operation.

On Friday, the Russian military advisers made their way to the important town of Quaryatayn.

According to a military source at the T-4 Military Airport in Eastern part of Homs, the Russian special forces contingent departed from the recently liberated city of Palmyra to advise the Syrian soldiers in Quaryatayn battlefield.

These military advisers will be responsible for calling in airstrikes and directly Syrian Army units in battle.

On March 27, the General Command of the Syrian Army and Armed Forces confirmed the recapture of the ancient city of Palmyra and the mountains and hills overlooking it.

“Security and stability has been restored to Palmyra following a series of precise and effective military operations that were carried out by the army units with the help of the popular defense groups, being backed by the Syrian and Russian Air Forces,” the Army Command said in a statement.

The ISIL terrorist group was dealt quite a heavy blow with army’s capture of Palmyra, said the Army Command, adding that the achievement severely damaged the terrorists’ morale and pressed the start button for the organization’s collapse and defeat.

“This achievement proves that our brave army, aided by the friends, is the only effective force capable of fighting terrorism and eradicating it,” the statement said.

The Army Command clarified that the importance of achievement stems from the significant strategic location of Palmyra city being a major link connecting the Central, Southern, Eastern and Northern areas, and from the historical and tourist status of the city as it stands witness to one of the most ancient human civilizations ever.

With Palmyra city under control, military operations against ISIL will expand starting from this springboard towards various axes and directions, on top being Deir Ezzur and Raqqa, especially that this victory helps in further tightening the noose around ISIL terrorists and cutting off their supply routes in areas under their control until having these areas fully freed, the statement explained.

The statement made it clear that the army, together with the popular defense groups and the Russian and Syrian Air Forces, will go ahead with military operations against ISIL and al-Nusra Front and other terrorist organizations.

Russian Warplanes Bombard ISIL Positions in Raqqa – Kurdish Forces Liberate Sab’avy Village

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Russian fighter jets carried out a number of airstrikes on Friday night and Saturday morning, hitting several sites of the ISIL near the Hama-Raqqa axis in Northeastern Syria.

The Russian Air Force bombed heavily the Tabaqa Military Airport that is located in the Western part of Raqqa province and is used by the terrorist group to train new recruits and house a large number of their fighters.

The Russian Air Force has specifically targeted this military facility due to its strategic location and large stock of weapons, ammunition, and military supplies that the ISIL relies on. According to a military source from the Syrian Air Defense, the Russian fighter jets conducted several air raids over the Tabaqa Military Airport, striking any vehicles in the site.

The Russian air fleet also targeted the ISIL’s defense line in the Eastern part of Hama, killing a large number of ISIL combatants near Aqayrbat.

Last week, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) managed to seize back a strategic village in the Northern parts of Raqqa province.

The Kurdish forces in heavy clashes with the ISIL terrorists regained full control of Sab’avy village in Northern Raqqa.

Scores of the ISIL militants were killed and wounded in tough battle with the SDF and YPG forces.

ISIL Besieged by Syrian Army, Defense Forces, in Quaryatayn Battlefront

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian Army’s artillery and missile units opened heavy fire at the positions of the ISIL terrorists near the ancient Assyrian town of Quaryatayn in the Southwestern part of Homs province and forced them to remain behind their stronghold with the lowest military movements.

The Syrian artillery and missile shelling of the ISIL positions inflicted heavy casualties on the terrorists and did not leave any chance for them to regroup.

In the meantime, the Syrian fighter jets targeted ISIL gatherings and military vehicles in Quaryatayn.

Shelling and bombardment of the ISIL positions paved the way for the Syrian government forces to retake more lands near Quaryatayn.

Reports said earlier today that the Syrian army and its popular allies continued their advances against the ISIL terrorists in Western Homs province, inching closer to Quaryatayn.

“The Syrian Arab Army’s 43rd and 63rd brigades of the 4th Mechanized Division and popular forces have been storming the gates of Quaryatayn after launching a surprise assault at the Western perimeter of this ancient town this morning,” the sources said.

According to a military source from the 11th Tank Division, the Syrian Armed Forces managed to break-through the ISIL stiff lines of defense this morning, paving the way for them to reach Quaryatayn’s Western gates at 11 a.m. (Damascus Time).

The source further added that the Syrian Armed Forces received a major boost from the Russian helicopters that are participating in the battle for the first time.

90 Percent of Lattakia Province under Full Control of Syrian Army

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian Army have thus far pushed the terrorist groups back from more than 90 percent of Lattakia province’s territories and are resolved to continue their mop-up operations to take back the rest of the costal province, army sources said.

“The Syrian soldiers and the Hezbollah combatants have cleansed over 90 percent of Lattakia province after months of non-stop operations against the terrorist groups, which have inflicted major losses on the terrorists in large scale,” the sources said.

“In the meantime, the Syrian Navy commandoes and Hezbollah repelled rapid attack of al-Nusra Front on the government forces’ positions near Jabal al-Qal’ah in the Northeastern part of Lattakia, and forced the terrorist group to retreat the battlefield after leaving behind scores of the dead and wounded members,” the sources added.

The sources stressed that Eastern part of Jabal al-Qal’ah and Kabani are under full control of the government forces.

In relevant developments in last days of March the Syrian a and their allies forced terrorists to retreat from a number of points in the Northwestern province of Lattakia, and established control over more regions in the Northern parts of the province.

The pro-government forces captured Ruweisa Rashou and Jourata an-Nahlah and several more points in the Northern regions of Lattakia province inflicting heavy casualties on the terrorists and damage on their military hardware.
