General information on the application of measures for the reconciliation of opposing sides

Ceasefire agreements with elders of two inhabited localities of the Hama province have been achieved. The total number of settlements, the leaders of which had signed reconciliation agreements, has reached 55.

Consultations with representatives of 3 towns of the Damascus and Homs provinces have been held. The sides discussed issues of ceasefire and humanitarian aid providing.

Negotiations with field commanders of three armed formations active in the Hama and Homs provinces are continued. The parties discussed issues of ceasefire regime joining.

The number of ceasefire application forms signed with leaders of armed groupings has remained 44.

Results of ceasefire monitoring

In general, the ceasefire regime in the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic has been observed. In the course of last 24 hours, 7 ceasefire violations have been registered (Latakia – 5, Aleppo and Damascus – 1 for each).

In the Latakia province, armed formations of Ahrar al-Sham grouping, which had claimed to belong to the opposition, opened fire with mortars and large-caliber machine guns against Mazraat Omaro and Sandran.

Mortar shelling was performed against positions of the government troops near Shmaisa from Zaytunjik.

In Aleppo, Sultan Murad Brigade militants carried out mortar attack against Sheikh Maqsood from Ashrafiyah. There are wounded.

In Damascus, militants of Jaysh al-Islam opened mortar fire against living houses in al-Sakhiyah.

Russian Aerospace Forces and Syrian Air Forces did not make strikes on armed formations, which follow ceasefire regime and informed the Russian or American Centres for reconciliation about their location.

Humanitarian aid to the population of Syria

In March, the Russian Centre for reconciliation of the opposing sides delivered 67.5 tons of humanitarian aid to citizens of the Latakia, Hama, Homs, Damascus, Aleppo, and Daraa provinces.

Humanitarian convoy for citizens of the Daraa province is being formed.

Additional information

Jubhat al-Nusra formations continue performing acts of provocations in the north-west of Aleppo. Sheikh Maqsood suffered shelling four times from Bustan al-Basha. Terrorists fired more than 15 bombs and 20 improvised projectiles. Two civilians have been wounded.

Works aimed at clearing road network near Palmyra are continued. Syrian engineers have cleared 4 km of M-7 highway, which led from Palmyra to Deir ez-Zor. 36 mines have been defused.

Peaceful life in towns and villages of the Aleppo province, which had been liberated from IS terrorists, is being established. Civilians have started field works. The province administration has started recovering water and energy supply systems.

Second group of Russian sappers arrived at Hmeymim airbase in Syria

The second group of the Russian sappers from the International Mine Action Centre of the Russian Armed Forces with robotic complexes Uran-6 and armoured personnel carriers fitted with suppressors of electronic fuzes of radio-controlled mines has arrived at the Hmeymim airbase in Syria.

Soon a column of military engineers will march to the assigned zone for mine clearance of infrastructural objects in the historical part of Palmyra.

Earlier according to the decision of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation has ordered to send specialists of the International Mine Action Centre to Syria for humanitarian mine clearance in the city Palmyra, which had been liberated from ISIS terrorists.

Homs Governor: Several weeks to repair damaged services and infrastructure in Palmyra

Governor of Homs Talal al-Barazi stressed that services facilities and infrastructure have sustained severe damage due to the terrorist attacks in Palmyra city.


Restoring services may take several weeks, once repair works start next week, in order to help displaced people return back to their homes, said al-Barazi on Thursday during a tour to examine the losses and damage in Palmyra, accompanied by the directors of services establishments in Homs.

The governor inspected the telephone center, the electric grid and water network and visited the National Museum in the city, whose contents, and several historical monuments like the Arch of Triumph and Temple of Bel, were had clearly been subjected to vandalism acts at the hands of ISIS terrorists.

He said repair workshops will start as soon as the military engineering units complete their mission to defuse and dismantle explosive devices and mines planted almost all over the city, pointing out that several non-governmental international organizations have expressed readiness to take part in restoring the ruins of Palmyra.

Director of Homs Department of Archeology Hussam Hamish, said the examination of the National Museum’s contents showed the possibility that some of the damaged artifacts can be restored and brought back to their previous status including the Lion of al-Lat.

The Arch of Triumph, which was blown up by ISIS, can be worked on as well, said Hamish, adding that the Temple of Bel needs expert examination since its main structure was completely demolished.

For his part, Director of Homs Electricity Company Musleh al-Hassan said the electric grid has been severely damaged and transfer plants were stolen, highlighting that the damage scale exceeds 80 % and the repair costs are estimated at hundreds of millions.

Director of Homs Telecommunications Directorate, Kanaan Jouda, said it is possible to soon re-operate Palmyra telephone center which has been vandalized by ISIS terrorists.

Six civilians injured in two terrorist bomb blasts in Homs city

Six civilians were injured in two simultaneous terrorist attacks with explosive devices in Ekrema neighborhood and al-Hadara Street in Homs city on Thursday.

The explosive device which was detonated in Ekrema neighborhood was placed in a trash container in front of al-Buhturi school, according to a source at Homs Governorate.

The source also told SANA that the other bomb in al-Hadara Street was placed under one of the cars parked in the street.

The two terrorist attacks left six people injured and caused material damage in the sites of the blasts, the source said.

Mass grave uncovered in Palmyra city, army continues operations in other provinces

A mass grave was uncovered by the popular defense groups in the northeastern parts of Tadmour (Palmyra) city containing bodies of people who were killed by ISIS terrorists.

A field source told SANA reporter that as the engineering units and popular defense groups were combing the area, they uncovered the mass grave and managed to pull 25 corpses, 3 of them are children and 5 others women in Masakin al-Jahizia neighborhood in the city.

Later, the source said that the number of bodies removed from the grave has reached 40 after pulling out 15 bodies, all of them belonging to women and children.

The source said that efforts continue to pull more bodies from the grave, adding that some of the bodies were beheaded and others were brutally tortured.

On May 2015, ISIS terrorists committed a massacre in Palmyra that claimed the lives of 400 people, most of them children, women and elderly.

The source said that the engineering units continue to dismantle the landmines and explosive devices which were planted by ISIS terrorists in the ancient city of Palmyra and residential neighborhoods of the city.

On February 27, army units, in cooperation with popular defense groups, restored control over the ancient city of Palmyra and the residential neighborhoods after inflicting heavy losses in personnel and equipment on ISIS terrorists.

Idleb/Hama

An army unit carried out intensive operations in the last 24 hours against the dens of Jabhat al-Nusra and “Ajnad al-Sham Islamic Union” in the area between the towns of al-Siad and Kafr Zita to the north of Hama city in Hama province, according to field sources.

The sources confirmed that 6 terrorists were killed and their sites, command centers and vehicles were destroyed during the operations.

In the southern countryside of Idleb, an army unit launched an operation against a den of Jabhat al-Nusra in the area surrounding al-Habit town, killing 3 terrorists and injuring 5 others.

Another army unit destroyed the sites of “Turkistan Islamic Party” and killed 9 of its members in Abu al-Dohour Airport to the southeast of Idleb city.

Army units destroyed 2 sites of Jabhat al-Nusra in Kafar Sajna village and to the south of Rakaya village to the south of Idleb city.


Syrian Army Preparing for Large-Scale Offensive in Quaryatayn
TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian army is preparing for massive offensive against the ISIL Takfiri terrorists’ positions in the strategic city of Quaryatayn as large reinforcements arrived in the region.

The Syrian army’s 4th Mechanized Division sent a large number of its troops and military hardware to Quaryatayn to help the army conduct its military operations there.

The 43rd and 63rd brigades of the 4th Mechanized Division from Damascus have been redeployed to the Eastern part of Qalamoun in order to help liberate Quaryatayn and Mahsa’a from the remaining ISIL terrorists.

The 64th Regiment of the Syrian army’s 4th Mechanized Division and Desert Hawk Brigades (Liwaa Suqour Al-Sahra) will also join the 43rd and 63rd brigades in the Eastern Qalamoun to help with winning back more strategic regions in and in the surrounding areas of Quaryatayn.

The 43rd and 63rd brigades are well-known from their successful Qalamoun and Zabadani offensives, which they conducted side-by-side with Hezbollah in the Summer of 2015. The Desert Hawk Brigades already had a number of battalions in Quaryatayn, but they have now increased their units to lead the battle against the ISIL.

Approximately 4,000-4,500 military men of the Syrian army are currently present in East Qalamoun and the number will surely increase in the coming days.

In a relevant development on Thursday, the Syrian army continued pounding the ISIL terrorists’ military positions and gathering centers in different parts of Quaryatayn city.

The army units hit hard the ISIL terrorists in Southern, Southwestern and Northern parts of Quaryatayn region in Homs province.

The army’s artillery units backed up by Russian and Syrian fighter jets hit the ISIL’s fortifications and gathering centers in al-Sukhneh region.

Scores of ISIL terrorists were killed and wounded in the Syrian army’s attacks on Thursday.

In a relevant development on Wednesday, the Syrian army and popular forces continued their advances in the Eastern part of Homs province, and seized back two strategic regions near Quaryatayn.

The army units took full control of the Southern Farms and Height 861 in the surrounding area of Quaryatayn.

Scores of militants were killed and wounded in heavy clashes with the Syrian government troops near Quaryatayn.

Also on Tuesday, the Syrian army seized back a strategic height near the town of Quaryatayn.

The army units took full control of Hazm al-Gharbiat height by moving from Jabil mountain towards Hazm al-Awsat mountains in the Western part of Quaryatayn town.

The Syrian army inflicted heavy losses on the ISIL Takfiri terrorists and destroyed their armored vehicle killing all its crew members.

On Monday, the Syrian army and the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement started fresh military operations against the terrorists’ military positions Quaryatayn town in Homs province, and seized control of a strategic hill in the region in the first phase of the operation.

The army units attacked the terrorists’ positions in Quaryatayn.

The Syrian army and resistance forces seized back Mantar al-Ramliya Hill in Taloul al-Soud area in the Western part of Quaryatayn early in the first phase of their massive operations.

The Syrian army started its fresh operations after it cut the terrorists’ supply routes to the ancient city of Palmyra which is also located in Eastern Homs.

Meantime, the Syrian army’s artillery units heavily pounded the terrorists’ positions in Quaryatayn.


Army, Popular Forces Close to Winning Key Regions in Homs, Hama Provinces

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian army and popular forces continued their advances in Homs and Hama provinces over the past 24 hours, and they are now very close to winning back two strategic regions there.

In Homs province, the army units destroyed the ISIL’s military positions in the city of Quaryatayn, inflicting heavy losses on the Takfiri terrorists.

In Hama province, the Syrian army inched closer to the strategic town of Salamiyah.

The Syrian army and government troops also inflicted heavy losses on the Takfiri terrorists in other key provinces across Syria.

Homs

The Syrian army continued pounding the ISIL terrorists’ military positions and gathering centers in different parts of the city of Quaryatayn in Homs province on Thursday.

The army units hit hard the ISIL terrorists in Southern, Southwestern and Northern parts of Quaryatayn region in Homs province.

The army’s artillery units backed up by Russian and Syrian fighter jets hit the ISIL’s fortifications and gathering centers in al-Sukhneh region.

Scores of ISIL terrorists were killed and wounded in the Syrian army’s attacks on Thursday.

Hama

The Syrian Army continued advances in Southern Hama, inching closer to the strategic town of Salamiyah.

According to several military sources in Hama battlefields, the pro-government forces, including the Syrian army and popular forces kept on advancing against the terrorists’ positions, forcing them to retreat from the their positions and establishing control over more lands in Southern Hama province.

The Syrian army’s ground operation is supported by aerial attacks.

Scores of terrorists were killed and wounded in the army’s attacks on their positions.

The Syrian army and popular forces foiled an attempt by the ISIL terrorists to attack several military positions in al-Sheikh Halal village in Eastern Hama, inflicting heavy losses on them.

The ISIL terrorists tried to open their way into al-Sheikh Halal village, but were pushed back by the Syrian government troops.

Scores of ISIL terrorists were killed and wounded. At least three ISIL military vehicles equipped with heavy machineguns were razed down by the Syrian army and popular forces.

The Syrian Army continued its advances in Hama province, and seized back more regions near the strategic town of Salamiyah.

The army units are now in full control of Tabara al-Diba heights alongside oil pipeline of Salamiyah in the Eastern part of Hama province.

The Syrian army destroyed different kinds of heavy machineguns and artillery of the ISIL terrorists.

Scores of the ISIL terrorists were killed and wounded in the Syrian army’s attacks on their military positions and gathering centers.

Salamiyah is of strategic importance because it is only 30 kilometers from Hama city and it is located to the North of Homs city.

On Wednesday, the Syrian army and the popular forces took full control of Tabara hill near Aqareb region after tough battle with the ISIL militants in Eastern Hama.

Deir Ezzur

The Syrian popular forces won back a strategic oilfield in Deir Ezzur province.

The popular forces took full control of Ravished oilfield in the Northern part of Deir Ezzur province after withdrawal of ISIL forces from there.

Scores of militants were killed and wounded in heavy clashes with the Syrian army and popular forces on Thursday.

In a relevant development on Tuesday, the Syrian army and popular forces continued their advances in two strategic regions in Deir Ezzur province in Eastern Syria, killing and wounding scores of the ISIL terrorists.

The Syrian army discovered a key tunnel of the ISIL terrorist group in the old airport district in the Southern part of the city of Deir Ezzur.

The ISIL’s 20-meter-long tunnel was razed down by the army units.

Scores of the Takfiri terrorists were killed and wounded in the Syrian army’s attacks on their tunnel.


Syrian Air Force Destroys Al-Nusra Front’s Military Positions in Eastern Idlib

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian fighter jets struck and destroyed the gathering centers of the Al-Nusra Front terrorist group near a strategic military airport in the Eastern part of Idlib, inflicting heavy losses and casualties on the militants.

Al-Nusra Front’s military positions near Abu Dhuhour military airport in Eastern Idlib were razed down by the Syrian warplanes.

Scores of terrorists were killed and wounded in Syrian air force’s raids in Eastern Idlib.

Meantime, Al-Nusra Front’s arms depot was also destroyed in the Syrian fighter jets’ strikes on their positions in Eastern Idlib.

Also, the Syrian fighter jets hit hard the terrorists’ military positions and supply lines in al-Tamane and al-Habit towns near Khan Sheikhoun in Southern Idlib.

In a relevant development in early March, the Syrian army and its popular allies launched massive operations Northeast of Lattakia bordering the Southern part of Idlib province to wipe out the last positions of the terrorist groups in the coastal province, informed sources said.

“The Syrian army and the National Defense Forces have stormed the Takfiri terrorist groups fortified positions near the small but strategic town of Kabani,” the sources said, adding, “The Syrian government forces preferred to hit the militant groups’ line of defense from the overlooking heights of Jabal al-Zweiqat in the Southern side of Kabani.”

Al-Nusra terrorists first built their headquarters in Abu al-Dhuhour during their large-scale offensive to capture the Abu al-Dhuhour Military Airport; this installation is located directly East of the village.

Earlier reports said that a large number of reinforcements from the provinces of Tartous and Homs have been sent to the Northwestern battlefields of the country to join the Syrian Armed Forces’ large-scale operation in Idlib province.

“Several armored vehicles arrived to the Kurds Mountain (Jabal Al-Akrad) last night as part of a new wave of fighters that are set to replace the battle-hardened Desert Hawks (Liwa Suqour Al-Sahra) after they were transferred to the Palmyra (Tadmur) front,” the sources said.

The source added that these legions of reinforcements are from the National Defense Forces (NDF) and the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP) and will be tasked with protecting the captured territory while the Syrian Marines, the Special Forces, and the Republican Guard advance East.

In addition to reinforcements from the National Defense Forces, the Syrian Arab Army will also be joined by several military contingents of Iraqi combatants; however, the number of personnel participating is still unknown.

While the government forces continue to mobilize men and women for this imminent offensive, the Syrian army troops are still advancing at the strategic town of Kabani on the border of Idlib.

Once Kabani is captured, the Syrian forces will split-up: one unit will push West towards the al-Ghaab Plains, while another legion will push Northwest towards the strategic city of Jisr Al-Shughour.
