General information on the application of measures for the reconciliation of opposing sides

Specialists of the Russian Centre for reconciliation of opposing sides took part in session with representatives of initiative groups, political and public organizations active in the Homs and Damascus provinces. The sides discussed issues of joining the ceasefire regime.

The total number of settlements, the leaders of which have signed reconciliation agreements, has remained 51.

The number of ceasefire application forms signed with leaders of armed groupings has remained 43.

Results of ceasefire monitoring

In general, the ceasefire regime in the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic has been observed.

In the course of last 24 hours, 11 ceasefire violations have been registered (Aleppo – 5, Idlib – 3, Latakia – 2, Damascus – 1).

Militants of Ahrar al-Sham grouping, which had claimed to belong to the opposition, carried out three mortar attacks against living houses and positions of the Kurdish militia detachments in Sheikh Maqsood (Aleppo). Moreover, they performed mortar shelling against al-Famili and Abu Rwel city sections. A militia man was killed; two men got wounds of varying severity.

In the Idlib province, Ahrah al-Sham militants opened fire with mortars against Fua three times. Four civilians were injured.

In the Latakia province, armed formations of al-Haq Brigade opened mortar fire two times against Karajabez from Shamruran.

In the Damascus province, militants of Jaysh al-Islam carried out mortar attacks against Huteita al-Jarash from Zibdin.

Standard conditions and procedures for providing ceasefire regime, which had been approved by the Russian Federation and the United States of America, has come into effect since 00.00 (Damascus) on March 28, 2016.

Russian Aerospace Forces and Syrian Air Forces did not make strikes on armed formations, which follow ceasefire regime and informed the Russian or American Centres for reconciliation about their location.

Humanitarian aid to the population of Syria

Within last 24 hours, the Russian Centre for reconciliation has transported 3.2 tons of humanitarian cargos to the Aleppo province for further delivering to citizens of the most damaged inhabited localities.

Humanitarian convoy for citizens of the Hama province is being formed.

The Russian Centre receives information from citizens of the Aleppo province about concentration of large forces of Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist grouping in the north-western part of the province.

Militants of Jabhat al-Nusra continue shelling Sheikh Maqsood in Aleppo. Within last 24 hours, mortar fire has been opened for 6 times from Hraitan.

Russian Defense Ministry Begins Preparations to Help Demine Palmyra

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Tuesday that the Russian Defense Ministry has already begun necessary preparations to help demine Palmyra from explosives and mines planted earlier by ISIS terrorists before expelling them.

Sputnik news agency quoted President Putin as saying, during a meeting for the Presidential Committee on the military-technical cooperation affairs, that he instructed Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu to report on plans to clear Palmyra of mines.

A team of Russian bomb disposal experts heads to Syria to demine Palmyra

In the same context, a team of Russian bomb disposal experts has headed to Syria to help defuse mines planted by ISIS terrorists in Palmyra before they were defeated by the army who established control over the city few days ago.

Russian Zvezda TV channel said Tuesday the expert team from the International Mine Action Center of the Russian Armed Forces have taken off from Chkalovsky Airport heading to Syria on board a military aircraft.

Zvezda TV added the aircraft is also carrying on board robots and equipment to remove mines and explosives.

Earlier, a Russian military source announced that a total of 100 Russian military engineers and dog trainers will be sent to Syria to help demine Palmyra.

The announcement of the Russian participation in the demining process along with the Syrian army was made by the Russian General Staff yesterday.

UNESCO establishes fund to restore Palmyra

Permanent Delegate of the Russian Federation to UNESCO Eleonora Mitrofanova announced on Tuesday that the organization established exceptional fund to return the situation in Palmyra city to normal.

“UNESCO established an exceptional emergency fund for Palmyra to which the donations will be provided by the member countries”, Mitrofanova said at a press conference in Moscow.

She considered that the return of the situation in Palmyra to its normal will be probably through funds outside the organization’s budget, pointing out that the fund has received
until now about 2.7 million Euro.

A Russian military source announced that a total of 100 Russian military engineers and dog trainers will be sent to Syria to help demine Palmyra.

Clashes Intensifying between Kurdish Fighters, Terrorists in Northern Aleppo

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) engaged in heavy fighting with the ISIL terrorists in the Northern part of Aleppo province and inflicted a heavy death toll on the militants.

The clashes erupted between the Kurdish fighters and the terrorists in Hajiz al-Shat and Villa Ghazi near the town of Azaz in the Northern Aleppo which claimed the lives of several terrorists and damaged their military hardware.

In a relevant development on March 26, the Kurdish forces thwarted an attempt by the Takfiri terrorists to capture Sheikh al-Maqsoud district in the city of Aleppo.

The Al-Nusra Front and Ahrar al-Sham terrorists tried to take control of Sheikh al-Maqsoud area, but they were forced to retreat by the Kurdish fighters.

The Takfiri terrorists sustained heavy casualties and losses in tough battle with the Kurdish forces.

Most parts of Aleppo province have been purged of terrorists who are now engaged in increasing internal clashes in the limited stretches of lands that are still under their control.

Earlier in Aleppo province, the Ahrar al-Sham and Jund al-Aqsa terrorist groups operating in the Northern province of Aleppo engaged in fierce clashes with each other after the death of a senior ISIL ringleader.


Syrian Army Moving towards Jisr Al-Shughour after Palmyra Victory

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian army’s general command ordered the country’s Marine Corps to redeploy to strategic mountainous regions in Lattakia province overlooking Jisr al-Shughour in adjacent Idlib province to capture it.

After Palmyra’s liberation on Sunday, the Syrian Marines were given orders by the High Command of the Syrian army to redeploy to the Kurdish Mountain (Jabal Al-Akrad) and Turkmen Mountain (Jabal Al-Turkmen) in the Northern part of Lattakia province.

Unlike in Palmyra, where they were a support unit, the Syrian Marines played a major role in an offensive in Northern Lattakia, leading the recapture of several villages, hilltops, and roadways en route to Idlib and the Turkish borders.

The return of the Syrian Marines to the Lattakia province means that the military operations Jisr Al-Shughour will likely restart as they look to capture the city from Jeish al-Fatah (Army of Conquest) terrorist group.

The Syrian army’s military array in Northern Lattakia has not changed at all, but their allies from the 103rd Brigade of the Republican Guard and the 48th Special Forces Regiment are still in position to capture the strategic town of Kabani and retake all villages along a highway leading to Jisr Al-Shughour.

Informed sources disclosed that infighting is on growth among terrorist groups’ commanders in Idlib province, while the groups have been admitting their losses and casualties on their social media pages during the recent days. Such incidents have happened on several occasions, including their huge defeat in Sheikh Sindiyan on the western outskirts of Jisr al-Shughour city.

Reports also said the Syrian soldiers are currently, pushing back the militants, pressing North from the village of Touma towards the militant stronghold of Kinsibba, which is considered the terrorists’ last line of defense before the important city of Jisr al-Shughour in Idlib province.


Deir Ezzur: Syrian Army Inflicts Heavy Losses on ISIL Terrorists

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian army and popular forces continued their advances in two strategic regions in Deir Ezzur province in Eastern Syria, killing and wounding scores of the ISIL terrorists.

The army units attacked the ISIL’s military positions in the towns of al-Mayadeen and al-Ashara in Deir Ezzur province.

The Syrian government troops killed at least four ISIL terrorists in Tebbiya region in al-Mayadeen town in the Southeastern part of Deir Ezzur.

The army units also hit hard the ISIL in al-Ashara town also located in the Southeastern part of Deir Ezzur. At least five ISIL terrorists, including three Saudi nationals, were killed in heavy clashes with the Syrian army.

In a relevant development on Monday, the Syrian army foiled an attempt by the ISIL terrorist group to penetrate into its military positions in the Eastern part of Deir Ezzur military airport, killing scores of Takfiri terrorists.

The ISIL terrorists tried to penetrate into al-Mura’yeh and Huweija fronts near Deir Ezzur military airport, but they were pushed back by the Syrian army.

“At least five terrorists were killed and many more were injured in heavy clashes with the government troops,” army sources said.

Also on Saturday, the Syrian army hit hard and destroyed the ISIL’s military positions in the Eastern part of Deir Ezzur as the country’s air force continued pounding the Takfiri terrorist group’s gathering centers in strategic farms and villages across the province.

The Syrian air force pounded the ISIL’s military positions in al-Mura’yeh farms and Jafreh village.

Meantime, the Syrian army destroyed the ISIL’s positions in Mura’yeh and al-Huweija fronts in the Eastern part of Deir Ezzur province.

Scores of terrorists were killed and wounded in tough battle with the Syrian army and also in Syrian fighter jets’ strikes.

Also on Thursday, the Syrian Air Force launched several airstrikes on ISIL positions in the city of Deir Ezzur’s Eastern Suburbs.

“The Syrian Air Force also destroyed as many as a dozen pick-up trucks and armored vehicles of ISIL in the al-Uthmaniyah district,” a military source said.

In addition to the destruction of the terrorist group’s vehicles, the Syrian air force jets destroyed an ISIL warehouse during the aerial operation over the region, the source added.

Also last Wednesday, a source reported that the ISIL’s top field commander in Deir Ezzur province was killed by the Syrian Army when his unit launched a large-scale offensive to seize the provincial capital.

According to a source from the Syrian Army’s Airborne Brigade of the Republican Guard, the ISIL commander was identified as “Salahiddeen Al-Beljiki”, a veteran terrorist from Belgium.

One day after Al-Beljiki’s death, the Syrian Armed Forces also reported the death of another ISILL field command “Sayaf Al-Baqawi”, nom de guerre “Sayaf Al-Mughrabi.

Al-Baqawi’s was a Moroccan national that led ISIL’s “Al-Bitar Battalions” in the battle for Deir Ezzur province and his death was reported to the Moroccan authorities after his identification.


Al-Nusra Front Terrorists Sustain Heavy Losses in Northwestern Hama

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian army pounded and destroyed the military positions of Al-Nusra Front terrorists in the Northwestern part of Hama province on Tuesday.

The Al-Nusra Front’s military positions in al-Mansoura village in Northwestern Hama were razed down by the army units, inflicting heavy losses on the terrorists.

The Syrian army also destroyed the terrorists’ mortar launching-pads in al-Ghab valley in the Western neighborhood of al-Mansoura village.

Scores of terrorists were killed and injured in tough battle with the Syrian army in the surrounding areas of al-Mansoura village.

In a relevant development on Sunday, the Syrian army and popular forces continued their advances in Hama, and won back two more key regions in the ISIL-controlled territory in the Eastern part of the Central province.

The army units and popular forces took full control of two new regions in the Western part of Aqareb dam and Tabaret al-Deibeh in heavy clashes with the ISIL terrorists.

Scores of ISIL terrorists were killed and wounded in heavy clashes with the Syrian government troops. Three military vehicles of the ISIL equipped with heavy machineguns were also razed down by the Syrian army.

Aqareb region is located about 30 kilometers to the East of Hama city.

The army’s engineering units defused the bombs and mines which were laid by the terrorists in the two regions.

Also on March 21, the Syrian army forces’ missile attack on terrorists’ positions in Hama province killed tens of militants and destroyed their weapons and vehicles.

According to military sources, the missile attack was launched against a vehicle carrying terrorists on the strategic al-Mansoura-Tal Wasat road in al-Ghab Plain, 25 km Northwest of Hama.

The missile strike killed all militants on board in addition to the full destruction of their vehicle.

Terrorists of the al-Nusra Front on March 20 admitted that one of their top military commanders has been killed during the Syrian army operations in the Southernmost parts of Hama province.

The terrorist group acknowledged on its social media that their top commander Abu Mustafa al-Hamawi was killed during the recent clashes that erupted between the Syrian Army and the Al-Nusra Front near Tal-Dara village South of Hama province, close to Homs province.

Russian Air Force Pounds ISIL’s Military Positions in Southeastern Homs

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Russian fighter jets hit hard the ISIL over a vast area of a highway linking Iraq’s Anbar province to the Syrian town of al-Quaryatayn in Homs.

The ISIL terrorists sustained heavy losses in the Russian airstrikes on their positions on Anbar-Quaryatayn highway.

“The Russian air force has conducted over 30 airstrikes above Quaryatayn over the last 12 hours; these attacks have proven to be detrimental to the remaining ISIL terrorists inside the town because they are unable to evade the strikes,” a Syrian army officer said on Tuesday.

In a relevant development on Monday, the Russian warplanes destroyed an important fuel depot in the Quaryatayn countryside.

They have now shifted their attention to ISIL’s main supply route from Iraq to the Southeastern part of Homs.

Also on Tuesday, the Syrian army and popular forces continued their advances Homs province, and seized back a strategic height near the town of Quaryatayn.

The army units took full control of Hazm al-Gharbiat height by moving from Jabil mountain towards Hazm al-Awsat mountains in the Western part of Quaryatayn town.

Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Recaptures More Key Areas Near Quaryatayn

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian army and popular forces seized back more strategic regions in Homs province, specially in the surrounding areas of the town of Quaryatayn and in the ancient city of Palmyra (Tadmur) over past 24 hours.

The Syrian government troops were inching closer to recapture of Quaryatayn town.

The ISIL terrorists sustained heavy losses and casualties.

The Syrian army also continued its advances in other key provinces across Syria.

Homs

The Syrian army and popular forces attacked the ISIL’s military positions in the surrounding areas of the strategic town of al-Quaryatayn in Homs province, and managed to seize back a number of key regions.

The strategic regions won back by the Syrian government troops are located along Taloul al-Soud axis.

Meantime, the clashes continued along al-Sukhneh axis in the Northeastern part of Palmyra (Tadmur) city.

The Syrian government troops also engaged in heavy clashes with al-Nusra Front terrorists in the surrounding areas of Talbisa, Tir Ma’ala and Um Sharshoukh in Homs province.

The Syrian army and popular forces took full control over the strategic regions in the Eastern part of Homs province.

Meantime, the army units established full control over Heights 849, 850 in the direction of al-Hazem al-Thani and Height 876 in al-Ramila direction to the Northwest of the town of Quaryatayn.

The Syrian army and popular forces purged terrorists from Palmyra airport Southeast of the ancient city.

The army units started defusing the bombs and mines laid by the ISIL in the airport before fleeing their military positions.

The army units were also fortifying their military positions in the Eastern part of Palmyra city, Southern farms and Palmyra hospital.

The Syrian army has also purged terrorists from al-Amiriya village as well as al-Jami’at, Stadium and historical sites of Palmyra.

The Syrian army’s next priorities are al-Hil oilfield and third oil transfer station which are located about 40 kilometers to the Northeast of Palmyra city.

The Syrian army and popular forces are now in full control of over 175 square kilometers of formerly ISIL-controlled areas in the ancient city of Palmyra (Tadmur) and its countryside.

The army units and popular forces have also cut all the supply routes from Palmyra to Deir Ezzur and Raqqa provinces and also the strategic town of al-Quaryatayn in the Eastern part of Homs province.

The ISIL terrorist group has sustained heavy losses and casualties in tough battle with the Syrian army and popular forces over taking control of the key region in Palmyra.

Aleppo

The Syrian army and popular forces thwarted an attempt by the Al-Nusra Front terrorist group on a key region in the Southern part of Aleppo province after several hours of fierce clashes with the militants on Monday.

The Takfiri terrorists attempted to attack Tal al-Ais in Southern Aleppo, but they were pushed back by the Syrian army’s timely counterattack.

The fierce clashes between the army units and the terrorists lasted several hours which resulted in the death of dozen terrorists.

In a relevant development on Sunday, the Takfiri terrorists attempted to attack Hanano military base in Aleppo city from Aghyor region, but they were pushed back by the timely counteroffensive of the Syrian government forces.

Deir Ezzur

The Syrian army foiled an attempt by the ISIL terrorist group to penetrate into its military positions in the Eastern part of Deir Ezzur military airport on Monday, killing scores of Takfiri terrorists.

The ISIL terrorists tried to penetrate into al-Mura’yeh and Huweija fronts near Deir Ezzur military airport, but they were pushed back by the Syrian army.

Damascus

Intense infighting between the al-Nusra Front and the ISIL terrorists in al-Qalamoun region in Damascus countryside resulted in several fatalities on both sides.

At least 10 Al-Nusra Front and 8 ISIL terrorists were killed in tough infighting in Jaroud al-Jarajir area in al-Qalamoun region on Monday.

In a relevant development on Sunday, Field sources in Damascus province revealed intense infighting between the al-Nusra Front and ISIL terrorists in al-Qalamoun region resulted in death of a senior ISIL commander.

Abu Azam, an ISIL field commander, and his men were killed in Jaroud al-Jarajir area in Al-Qalamoun.

The al-Nusra Front captured several ISIL-controlled military positions in these clashes.

Almost the entire range of extremist and terrorist groups are supported by Saudi Arabia and Turkey, with their key commanders and leaders being Saudi nationals. ISIL, Al-Nusra and other extremist groups pursue the same line of ideology exercised and promoted by Saudi Arabia, Wahhabism. Hundreds of Saudi clerics are among the ranks of ISIL and Al-Nusra to mentor the militants.

Wahhabism is now the only source of the textbooks taught at schools in the self-declared capital of the ISIL terrorist group, Raqqa, in Northeastern Syria resembling the texts and lessons taught to schoolgoers in Saudi Arabia. The Wahhabi ideology, an extremist version of Sunni Islam that is promoted almost only in Saudi Arabia, sees all other faiths – from other interpretations of Sunni Islam to Shiism, Christianity and Judaism – as blasphemy, meaning that their followers should be decapitated as nonbelievers.

The army establishes control over more areas near al-Qaryatain in Homs

The Syrian army’s air force raided early morning Tuesday hideouts and gatherings of ISIS terrorists in the countryside of Homs province.

ISIS vehicles, some equipped with heavy machineguns and others carrying weapons and equipment, were destroyed in the airstrikes in the eastern part of Palmyra, a military source told SANA.

The raids, also, resulted in destroying fortifications and hideouts of ISIS at the southern side of al-Tafha village near Jebb al-Jarrah area, some 80 Km to the east of Homs.

To the southern side of Homs countryside, the Syrian air force destroyed vehicles and dens for ISIS in the village of al-Basiri and in the vicinity of al-Qaraytain city, some 85 km from Homs city.

A military source said that an army unit, in cooperation with popular defense groups, established control over the southern farms and point 861 in the area surrounding al-Qaryatayn city in Homs countryside.

On Monday, army units established control over al-Hazm al-Gharbiya area, the strategic Point al-Raqema and Dahr al-Kharnoubi hill in the vicinity of al-Qaraytain city in the southeastern side of Homs province.

Army units also eliminated Monday the last gatherings of ISIS terrorists in Mintar al-Rumeili area and destroyed the terrorists’ supply routes and movements inside the city.

Earlier on Sunday, army units, in cooperation with the popular defense groups, established control over Points 850 and 849 in the direction of al-Hazm al-Thani as well as over Point 876 in the direction of al-Rumeila Mount northwest of al-Qaryatain.
