8 March، 2016
Provinces, SANA

The army units on Tuesday foiled a terrorist attack in the countryside of Aleppo and inflicted heavy losses upon ISIS, Jabhat al-Nusra and other terrorist organizations in several areas around the country.

Aleppo

A military source said that the armed terrorist groups attempted on Monday to infiltrate into a military point in Talet al-Ees in the southern countryside of Aleppo, in a new violation of the agreement of cessation of hostilities.

The source added that the defense unit foiled the attempt, inflicting heavy losses upon the infiltrating terrorist groups.

Homs

A unit from the army, in cooperation with popular defense groups, established control on the south-western part of Mahsa town in Homs countryside after dealing a big blow to ISIS terrorists in equipment and personnel.

The army restored the gas pipeline to work again.

Earlier, a military source said that the Army’s Air Force destroyed ISIS terrorists’ dens and vehicles, some of which equipped with machineguns, in the surroundings of al-Qaryatain and Palmyra cities and in al-Mahassa village in Homs central province.

Later, a military source told SANA that army units, in cooperation with popular defense groups, foiled an attack by ISIS terrorists on the areas of al-Maqale’a (quarries), Thanyet al-Rajmeh, and Duhour al-Hayyal in Palmyra countryside, killing and injuring many of them.

Syrian Kurdish Forces Win Back 7 Key Villages in Raqqa Province

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian Kurdish fighters continued their advances in Raqqa province and seized back over half a dozen strategic villages in tough battle with the ISIL terrorists.

The Kurdish forces took full control of seven villages of Al-Hamd, Al-Jad’an, Al-Jadou, Al-Badr, Al-Sarad, Delian and Delian Matli in Raqqa province after fierce clashes with the ISIL.

Scores of Takfiri terrorists were killed and wounded in the clashes with the Kurdish YPG and SDF forces.

The Kurdish forces have made considerable military gains against the ISIL in the Northern and Northeastern parts of Syria in recent days.

In a relevant development on Monday, the Kurdish forces seized back a key village in the Southwestern part of Hasaka province in heavy clashes with the ISIL terrorists.

The Kurdish forces took full control of al-Makman village in Hasaka province.

Also on Monday, a top ISIL commander was killed in clashes with the SDF in the Southern part of Hasaka province.

Ala Ahmad al-Arsan known as Abu Modayen was killed in a fighting with the Kurdish fighters near the village of Merkadeh.

Elsewhere in the province the SDF targeted three ISIL bomb-laden vehicles before the terrorists can use them to hit Kurdish bases in the Southern part of Hasaka province.

On Sunday, the SDF continued to drive the ISIL terrorists back from more positions in the Northeastern province of Hasaka and imposed full control over one more key town.

The ISIL left behind tens of dead or wounded members and retreated from its stronghold in the town of al-Wasalah under the heavy offensive of the Kurdish fighters.

The ISIL military hardware also sustained major damage in the battle.

The YPG Kurds have recently bonded with the Damascus government. The Syrian army sent several arms cargoes to the YPG troops in the Northeastern province of Hasaka and trained the first group of Kurdish volunteer forces in the provincial capital city of Hasaka last month.

The SDF that is comprised of mainly Kurdish fighters as well as a few hundred Syrian Arab dissident forces have received trainings from the US and have been provided with scanty US-coalition air support in their battles in Raqqa province in Northeastern Syria; but in Northern and Northwestern battlefronts, they have been operating alongside the YPG and received the Russian air backup in their Aleppo wars that started with the conquest of Tishrin Dam on the Euphrates early in February.

Assisted by the Syrian army – that has along with popular forces and Hezbollah conquered almost all militant-held regions in Eastern, Southern, Western and Northwestern Aleppo province – and Russian air support, the Kurdish forces fighting against the terrorists in North-Northeast Aleppo province have been making striking advances against the Al-Nusra, Ahrar al-Sham and ISIL terrorists in February.

In February, the YPG and SDF fighters prevailed over the terrorists in the highly strategic city of Tal Rifat in Northern Aleppo and captured the city.

In other key provinces across Syria, the Syrian army and popular forces also hit hard the military positions of the Takfiri terrorists.

The ISIL withdrew force from more positions near Um al-Tabat in the Western side of Ein Issa under the heavy attacks of the Kurdish fighters.

The village of Um al-Tabat is now under the full control of the SDF.

Scores of the ISIL terrorists were killed in the Kurdish fighters’ offensives.

Deir Ezzur

The Syrian army thwarted the ISIL’s attack on the military centers in several regions in Deir Ezzur province on Monday.

The ISIL attempted to attack the Syrian army’s military positions in al-Moqaber, Boor, Saeed and al-Orfi regions, but its terrorists were driven back by the government troops.

Scores of ISIL militants, including their senior commanders, were killed in the army’s counteroffensive.

Elsewhere, the Syrian army destroyed the terrorists’ arms depot and missile launch-pads in Baqiliya region.

The Syrian army also hit hard the ISIL’s military convoy near Al-Jazeera university in the suburbs of Deir Ezzur city and in the surrounding areas of Deir Ezzur military airport.

In a relevant development earlier on Monday, the Syrian Army troops alongside the popular forces pushed the ISIL terrorists back from more positions in the countryside of the Eastern city of Deir Ezzur in a rapid counter-attack and street battles.

The Syrian army, the National Defense Forces (NDF) and Shaytat Tribesmen carried out a successful counter-assault along the Damascus-Baghdad International Highway, clearing several sites and areas, including the city’s cemetery that were under the control of the ISIL.

The Syrian soldiers and their allies also recaptured the Western entrance of the provincial capital.

In the meantime, several clashes have been reported inside the Workers District (Hayy al-‘Ardi) and along Port Saeed Street, where the Syrian Armed Forces are attempting to clear a number of large buildings that are currently under ISIL control.

Hasaka

The Kurdish forces seized back a key village in the Southwestern part of Hasaka province in heavy clashes with ISIL terrorists.

The Kurdish forces are now in full control of al-Makman village in Southwestern Hasaka province.

Homs

The Russian Air Force carried out over 20 airstrikes in Jabal al-Akrad and Jabal al-Turkmen, hitting several militant camps and border-villages used by al-Nusra Front to house and resupply their fighters combating the Syrian government forces.

Despite the proximity of the Turkish border from their targets in Northern Lattakia, the Russian Air Force did not violate Turkish airspace nor did they hit any refugee camps as opposition activists usually claim.

Hama

The Syrian army announced on Monday that the ISIL military hardware sustained major damage after the country’s soldiers stormed the terrorist centers in the surroundings of at least two villages in the West-Central province of Hama.

“The Syrian army stormed the ISIL strongholds near the villages of Hamadi Omar and Sheikh Hillal, which ended in the destruction of several vehicles in the terrorists’ sites,” the army said.

“Several ISIL terrorists were also killed or wounded in the explosions of the vehicles,” the army added.

The Russian and Syrian fighter jets inflicted heavy losses on ISIL’s gathering centers in the suburbs of Quaryatayn and Palmyra.

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian government forces’ rapid advances in the Eastern part of Homs province has forced the ISIL terrorist group to start evacuation of the group’s combatants and their family members from the ancient city of Palmyra (Tadmur), informed sources announced.

“The Takfiri terrorists have launched an evacuation operation in Palmyra and are rapidly transferring their families from the city to al-Sakhanah East of Homs or to Raqqa province,” the sources said.
