Death toll from the three terrorist bombings in al-Sayyida Zeinab rose to 83, while 178 citizens were wounded.

Earlier, A number of civilians were killed and others were injured, most of them are women and children in three successive terrorist bombings in the schools’ street in al-Sayyida Zeinab town in Damascus Countryside on Sunday.

Homs9SANA reporter quoted local sources as saying that terrorists detonated a car bomb loaded with a large quantity of explosives on Sunday afternoon.

The bombing was followed by two other suicide bombings with explosive belts after the civilians gathered in the place.

The three bombings killed a number of civilians and injured scores others who were severely wounded in addition to causing big material damage to the area.

Meanwhile, the Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist organization claimed responsibility for the three explosions through Twitter.

Al-Sayyida Zeinab area was rocked on January 31th with a terrorist bombing with a car bomb which targeted a bus in Koa Soudan area followed by two suicide bombings with explosive belts, killing 45 persons and injuring 100 others.

The Cabinet condemned the attacks with Prime Minister Wael al-Halaqi saying that terrorist organizations are committing their attacks to make up for the recurring losses and defeats they suffer at the hands of the Syrian Arab Army.

Defense Minister visits army units in the south eastern countryside of Homs

Delegated by President Bashar al-Assad, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Army and the Armed Forces, Defense Minister Lt. Gen. Fahd Jassem al-Freij paid Sunday a field visit to a number of military posts in the south eastern countryside of Homs, where he met army members.

During his tour accompanied by a number of officers, Gen. Al-Freij inspected army units in the area and praised the heroism of soldiers in confronting the takfiri terrorist organizations.

Gen. Al-Freij was briefed by field commanders on how the military operations in the area are going on and gave them directives to implement their tasks in defeating and eliminating terrorism.

Gen. Al-Freij emphasized that the heroism of the Syrian armed forces is the guarantee to achieve the desired goal in restoring security and stability to the homeland, pointing out that the successive achievements by the Syrian Arab army foiled the plans of Syria’s enemies and caused frustration to their supporters and mercenaries who are falling under the strikes of the brave armed forces throughout the country.

In turn, Syrian soldiers emphasized their intention to continue their holy duty in protecting the homeland and freeing it from terrorism.

The army restores security to 19 villages and towns in Aleppo and more areas in Lattakia

The army and armed forces units advanced Sunday and made more successes in combating terrorism throughout the country.


Regaining control over 19 villages and towns

Army units, in cooperation with the popular defense groups, restored security and stability to the villages and towns of al-Dakouneh, al-Mifilseh, al-Jaberiyeh, Jub al-Safa, Um al-Amad, Kabbara, Treidem, Ain Sabel, Tal Estabel, Qseir al-Ward, Baidoura and Salehiyeh in the eastern countryside of Aleppo, a military source said.

Earlier, the villages of Huweijineh, Sobeihiyeh, al-Rodwaniyeh, Rayan, al Qaroutiyeh, Roufie and Ain Thabet at al-Sfira area, some 30 km to the northeast of Aleppo city, came under the army’s control.

After intensive operations against ISIS terrorists’ hideouts, the army units regained control over Faaouri and Riman hills in the eastern countryside of the Province.

The source added that the restoration of the seven villages comes after heavy clashes with terrorists of ISIS where big numbers of the terrorists were killed and dozens of them fled to the north.

Works of combing were at once achieved by army units in search for mines and explosives as to dismantle them in order to regain security of the villages completely, the source clarified.


Army units restored security and stability to a number of villages, areas and heights in the north eastern countryside of Lattakia after inflicting heavy losses in personnel and munitions upon terrorist organizations.

ِArmy units in cooperation with the popular defense groups restored security and stability to Beit al-Aous village and established control over the villages of Ard al-Wata, Hakoura al-Tahtaniye, Rweiset al-Malek, Rweiset al-Maqnas, Dahr abu Asaad and a number of strategic points in the north eastern countryside of Lattakia.

Engineering units combed the areas and dismantled a number of mines and explosive devices which were planted earlier by terrorists before the rest of them fled towards Turkey.


The army’s air force destroyed dozens of terrorists’ vehicles, some of which equipped with heavy machineguns, in Atshan and Skeik villages in Hama province.


A number of ISIS vehicles, some of them equipped with machine guns, were destroyed in army airstrikes in al-Qaryatin city in the countryside of Homs province, a military source said.

The source added that sites of Jabhat al-Nusra terrorists in Teir Maala village, located 7 km north of Homs city, were hit in airstrikes. Two positions were destroyed.


An army unit targeted a hideout for terrorist leaders within Jabhat al-Nusra in the area surrounding the Citadel of Busra in Busra al-Sham city, 40 km east of Daraa city in the southern province of Daraa, according to a military source.

The hideout was destroyed and a number of the terrorists were killed, the source confirmed in a statement to SANA.

Another army unit targeted a gathering of terrorists in al-Ghariyeh al-Gharbiye village, in addition to destroying a mortar launcher.

In Daraa al-Balad area in Daraa city, the army’s operations against the terrorists’ positions resulted in destroying a command center and killing many terrorists to the south of the park of al-Nazihin Camp neighborhood.

In the northeastern countryside of the neighboring Sweida province, an army unit, in cooperation with the popular defense groups, fired intensively at ISIS terrorists’ fortifications and their movements, destroying a vehicle equipped with a heavy machine gun to the south of Khirbet Saad.


The army’s air force targets a gathering of terrorists’ vehicles in Sinjar town in Idleb, destroying tens of vehicles and an armored car carrier.
