The Editor of Pan-African News Wire Abayomi Azikiwe talks with RT about the unrest in Tehran over Riyadh’s move to execute 47 people on terrorism charges, among them a prominent Shia cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr.
Those put to death included a prominent Shiite cleric Sheik Nimr al-Nimr.
These events prompted condemnations against the Saudi action all across the Middle East and internationally.
A crowd gathered outside the Saudi embassy in Tehran stoning the building and eventually setting it alight. Later Saudi Arabia, Sudan and other states severed diplomatic ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
These developments represent the ongoing and escalating proxy war between Riyadh backed by Washington and Wall Street on the one hand and Iran along with its allies and supporters throughout region in Yemen, Syria, Lebanon and other states including the Shiite population groups in eastern Saudi Arabia.
