In the course of the last 24 hours, aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces have performed 82 combat sorties engaging 204 terrorist objects in Syria
In the course of the last 24 hours, aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces have performed 82 combat sorties engaging 204 terrorist objects in the Syrian Arab Republic in the Aleppo, Idlib, Latakia, Hama and Homs provinces.
32 combat sorties were carried out by the Russian aircraft at night.
As the Russian Defence Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu reported to the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Armed Forces, for the last week the intensiveness of strikes on terrorist infrastructures has been considerably increased all over Syria.
Massive missile and aviation strike with precision weapons was made on the most important objects of terrorist groupings.
Sea-based cruise missiles Kalibr and precision airbombs KAB-500 were used.
The precision weapons were used against the most important terrorist objects.
For the first time, the Rostov-on-Don submarine performed a multiple launch of sea-based cruise missiles Kalibr from underwater position in the Mediterranean Sea.
This is not the first successful usage of the sea-based cruise missiles Kalibr. Earlier they had been used twice for engagement of terrorist facilities in Syria from surface warships of the Caspian flotilla.
The particularity of their last usage was the multiple launch from underwater position through torpedo launchers.
Objective monitoring data confirmed once again the high effectiveness of this missile complex.
All targets were hit with the highest accuracy.
It is to be reminded that the range of the Kalibr cruise missiles constitutes about 2,000 km.
The missile has low radar signature reached by following the terrain at extra-low altitudes that renders it nearly invisible for all types of air defence.
The accuracy of target engagement even at a large distance constitutes several meters. Taking into consideration that the combat payload is 500 kg, the target is destroyed for sure.
The missile may be fitted with special warhead, i.e. the nuclear one.
It is to be reminded that in November along with Kalibr missiles the newest air-based cruise missiles Kh-101 were also used by strategic aviation aircraft. These precision weapons are capable of guaranteed destruction of targets at the distances of up to 4,500 km.
They are also practically invisible for all kinds of air defence systems and may be fitted with conventional and nuclear warheads. The accuracy of these missiles constitutes not more than several meters.
It is to be mentioned one more time that the Russian Defence Ministry has been presenting the objective monitoring data of combat missions including target engagement during the whole operation in Syria.
The Defence Ministry has been doing it in a regular manner unlike the colleagues from the anti-ISIS coalition, who are just discussing upon their success, covering facts and particularities.
Certainly, this is their choice.
However, the Russian Defence Ministry is indignant at their approaches when they use this kind of behavior in assessing results of air missions carried out by the Russian air group in Syria.
It is obvious to the world public “who is who” in the fight against the international terrorism.
The more powerful and accurate our strikes are, the more deeply the colleagues criticizing the Russian operations in Syria in order to distract the public in different ways.
There are a couple of examples.
Last week, there appeared information concerning alleged deployment of a new Russian airbase near Shayrat settlement.
One does not need to be an expert to understand that it takes any Russian aircraft 30-40 minutes to get to any point in the territory of Syria.
That is why there is no operational necessity to deploy any additional Russian “airbases” on the territory of Syria as it has been taken into head by “armchair strategists”.
In addition, the messages quoting anonymous sources in the Pentagon concerning the alleged involvement of the Russian warplanes in strikes on the positions of the Syrian governmental troops near Deir ez-Zor on December 6 must be commented on.
First of all – the facts.
According to the General Staff of the Syrian Army, on December 6, 2015, from 19:40, for 15 minutes, aviation of the Western coalition was making an airstrike on a field camp of the 168th Brigade of the 7th Division of the governmental troops of the Syrian Armed Forces located 2 km to the west of Deir ez-Zor.
4 people were killed, 12 were injured.
All the Russian flights in the sky of Syria are accorded with the Air Traffic Control bodies and the General Staff of the Syrian governmental troops.
There were no Russian aircraft over that area.
It is a well-known fact for the US representatives.
Moreover, in accordance to the signed Memorandum, the Russian Defence Ministry informs the US AF representatives about time, altitudes and routes of the Russian aviation group in Syria in a timely manner.
The Pentagon officials stated that the US AF had been really performing operations over that area on December 6. However, they carried out strikes on the target, which had been located 55 kilometres far from the object.
That is true. But partly.
In the sky over Deir-ez-Zor, there were two pairs of combat aircraft from two anti-ISIS coalition member-countries.
If the Americans were out of it, why do the Pentagon representatives as the anti-ISIS coalition leaders are keeping silent about the presence of their allies’ aircraft near Deir-ez-Zor on December 6?
Is not it because the coalition aviation receives all the information concerning the ISIS targets in Syria from the Pentagon?
Moreover, the mistaken coalition’s air strikes take more and more Syrian lives.
According to the human rights advocates from the “Syrian Human Rights Council”, just the other day dozens of civilians have been killed by the coalition’s strike against the Al-Han village.
Maybe it is the high time for our partners from the so-called “coalition” revealed their cards?
From the very beginning of the operation, the Russian Defence Ministry has repeatedly offered the Americans to organize an information exchange on the terrorist positions in Syria.
The upshot is, as we say in Russia, “great cry and little wool”.
CSTO supported Russian operations in Syria and condemned Turkish actions
Today, the session of the Military Council established by the Council of the CSTO Defence Ministers was held in Moscow.
A large number of issues concerning military safety challenges and threats in the CSTO responsibility zone, topical measures directed to development of the CSTO forces for assigned task performance and strengthening the military potential of the Organization, and operation carried out by the Russian aviation group against terrorism in the Syrian Arab Republic, were discussed.
By common consent session participants supported Russian operations in Syria and condemned actions of Turkey concerning downing of the Russian Su-24 over Syria.
This was stated by the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces General of the Army Valery Gerasimov. He noted that there were discussed necessary measures directed to preventing further rising of terrorist ambitions in different regions of the CSTO area.
“We have also discussed military and political situation in the CSTO territories, exchanged opinions on further development of our relationships. Particular attention was paid, of course, to the catastrophe of the military aircraft in the territory of Syria; all the military commanders have condemned the downing of the bomber by the Turkish aircraft and supported the Russian position.”
Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces Colonel General Yuri Khachaturov stated that Russia had been supported by all the member-states. The Turkish behaviour was called base.
Yuri Khachaturov added that the participants supported Russia in all its decisions. He mentioned that the member-states were unified as never before. That is confirmed by the decision taken at the session.
The session of the CSTO Military committee was participated by Chiefs of General Staffs of the member-states: Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kirgizia, Russia, Tajikistan.
Since its establishment, this is the 7th session of the Military committee. The created system allows the CSTO Chiefs of General Staffs to define the ways of achieving objectives, which provide effective development of military cooperation within the Organization.

The first group of gunmen leave al-Waer neighborhood
9 December، 2015
The first phase of the agreement among the committees that are interested in the settlement of the wanted persons in al-Waer neighborhood in Homs started on Wednesday in preparation for evacuating the city of arms and gunmen and the return of all state establishments to it.
State Minister for National Reconciliation Affairs Dr. Ali Haidar, who supervised the implementation of the agreement, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the agreement emphasizes the seriousness and decision by the government to achieve reconciliations and provide all facilitations, pointing out that what happened today proves that the project of national reconciliation is Syrian par excellence and it is the main way to build a basis for Syria to return as it was previously.
Minister Haidar said that the first phase of the agreement opens the door to end the long suffering of the locals in al-Waer neighborhood in particular and in Homs city in general, noting that all areas in Homs countryside are qualified for local reconciliations and that there are promising and good approaches in parallel with local reconciliations in other provinces.
Minister Haidar added that the issue of the missing and abducted persons will be discussed seriously and in a transparent way by the committee formed for this purpose in the next phase of the reconciliation in al-Waer.
For his part, Governor of Homs Talal al-Barazi said in a statement to SANA reporter that the first group of gunmen started leaving al-Waer neighborhood in an implementation of the settlement agreement reached earlier this month by the committees concerned with settling the situation in the neighborhood.
The gunmen’s departure, carried out within the agreement that is aimed at clearing al-Waer of gunmen and weapons, is being implemented under the patronage of the United Nations and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC).
Homs Governor added that the first phase which will be completed later this week included 720 person including 300 gunmen who want to leave and 100 families including 400 women, children and civilians in addition to 20 wounded persons and persons in need including patients and paralyzed persons, pointing out that the Directorate of Health will treat them in cooperation with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent( SARC) while others will be treated in Syrian hospitals and some others will leave with the convoy.
The governor pointed out that the first group includes all gunmen from groups that do not accept the agreement which was reached, noting that after this stage the parties concerned will begin accepting the settlement of status of those who have the will to settle, explaining that after three weeks the extremist gunmen will have left the neighborhood and life will have returned to normal.
The settlement of the status of those who want this will be settled, while those who don’t want to have their status settled will be out at the final stages of the agreement.
In the first stage of the agreement, the gunmen who are willing to leave will have to hand over their medium-weight and heavy weapons to the side specified by the committees and will be allowed to keep only light weapons, according to al-Barazi.
The Governor noted that during the second stage of the settlement, the gunmen willing to go back to their normal lives will have their legal status settled, noting that all state institutions will go back to work in the neighborhood in the course of the second and third stages.
By the end of the third stage, al-Waer neighborhood will be clear of weapons and gunmen and under full control by the state, and will be safe and stable, with no arms but the arms of the Syrian Arab army and all state establishments will resume work including police and security departments who will maintain security, according to the Governor.
Al-Barazi explained that there is a committee concerned with the affairs of the kidnapped and missing persons which began work a few days ago, noting that its work needs attention, patience and secrecy, adding that lists of the missing persons are presented to the concerned authorities to be studied.
Al-Barazi stressed that there is no international involvement in the agreement of al-Waer neighborhood which has been a Syrian- Syrian dialogue for months, noting that the role of the UN and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent was limited in participating in logistics and the process of evacuation.
In Turn, resident representative of the UN in Syria Jacob al-Hilo described the day as “historic” in Homs city, noting that the United Nations is on the ground as a facilitating party that builds confidence between the two parties.
Al-Hilo expressed optimism that the life will be normal in al-Waer neighborhood and all locals will return home after they were obliged to leave.

Four civilians were killed and 21 others were injured in terrorist mortar attacks on neighborhoods of Aleppo city, SANA reporter said on Wednesday.
Two days ago, four civilians were killed and six others were injured in terrorist attacks with rocket shells that hit in al-Muhafaza and al-Khalediyeh neighborhoods in Aleppo city.
Qatar Supplying Tens of TOW Missiles to Terrorist Groups in Syria
TEHRAN (FNA)- Terrorist groups in Syria said on Wednesday they have received large cargoes of TOW missiles supplied by the Qatari government.
Militant groups said that Qatar has delivered 20 American TOW missiles to the Al-Qaeda’s official branch in Syria, the Al-Nusra Front to help the embattled terrorist group that has been sustaining heavy defeats in the war with the Syrian army and its allies across the country, specially in Northern provinces.
Meantime, other terrorist groups have also been reported to have received similar cargoes in a bid to intensify campaign against the Syrian government and stop the advances of the Syrian army and its allies before the next round of Syria talks.
The terrorist groups have been retreating in several provinces, including Aleppo, Lattakia, Hama, Homs, Damascus and Daraa in the last two months, giving President Bashar al-Assad an upper hand in any talks with international actors and opposition groups.
Ever since the recent defeats, the sponsors of militant groups have boosted their supply aids to reverse or, at least, stop the trend of the Syrian army victories.
In mid October, a Saudi official announced that his country has supplied the militants in Syria with a new batch of TOW antitank missiles as the Syrian army forces backed by Russian warplanes continue to gain ground in the Arab country.
BBC correspondent Frank Gardner tweeted that a Saudi official confirmed the delivery of 500 TOW antitank missiles to the so-called Free Syrian Army (FSA).
The delivery of the TOW missiles — which have also been provided by the CIA — will allegedly increase the capabilities of the militants.
TOW missiles, as Popular Mechanics notes, are guided missiles that could thoroughly damage tanks, armored carriers, and other vehicles. And, unlike other projectiles used against armored targets, such as RPGs, TOW missiles can be used from a considerable distance.
Then one month later in mid November, the Al-Nusra Front Takfiri terrorists posted a video on the Internet to thank the so-called moderate terrorist group, the Free Syrian Army (FSA), for supplying them with the US-made anti-tank TOW missiles.
The video shows an Al-Nusra Front field commander thanking the FSA commanders for giving his forces TOW missiles.
For several months, the Al-Nusra Front and the FSA have colluded together at almost every single battle in Aleppo, Lattakia, Hama, and Idlib Governorates of Syria and they formed an alliance of the militant groups known as Jeish al-Fath (Army of Conquest).
Thru Jeish Al-Fath, several militant groups like Al-Nusra Front and the Ahrar al-Sham movement have been given access to FSA’s US-made heavy weaponries that have been supplied to the militant group by the US, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
The Al-Nusra Front and the Free Syrian Army are very close to each other as they coordinate on the battlefield and share the same trenches; they even share control over the villages they capture together.
The Russian fighter jets’ continued operations against the terrorist positions across the coastal province of Lattakia in November led to the killing of Basel Zimmo (Abu Hamza) a senior commander known as the King of US TOW antitank missiles along with 40 other militants in an airstrike.
The Russian warplanes targeted the hideout of the militant commanders in Jabal al-Akrad area by several missiles, in which at least 40 terrorists were killed and many others were injured.
Abu Hamza, a defected captain and Chief of Staff of Coastal Division, was trained by the US forces in Turkey to operate the US-made antitank missiles against the government forces in Syria.
Zimmo targeted many army tanks in Syria by TOW missiles and trained many militants to work with the TOW missiles.
