Foreign Ministry condemns U.S.-led coalition’s airstrike against Syrian army post in Deir Ezzor
7 December، 2015
Damascus, SANA

Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said that four U.S.- led coalition warplanes targeted with 9 rockets one of the Syrian army’s posts in Deir Ezzor province, claiming the lives of 3 soldiers and injuring 13 others in addition to destroying three armored vehicles, four military vehicles, 23 mm machinegun, 14.5 machinegun and a depot of arms and ammunition.

In two identical letters addressed to the UN Secretary General and Chairman of the UN Security Council on Monday, the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry stressed that the Syrian Arab Republic strongly condemns this heinous aggression by the coalition and affirms that it contradicts with the goals and wills of the UN Charter.

Syria called on the Security Council to immediately take the urgent measures to prevent such aggression from occurring again, adding that the aggression on the military post hinders the efforts aiming to fight terrorism and reiterates that the U.S.- led coalition lacks seriousness and credibility in the fight against terrorism.

US Fighter Jets Attack Syrian Army Base in Deir Ezzur, 4 Soldiers Killed

TEHRAN (FNA)- The US struck a Syrian Army camp in the Syrian province of Deir Ezzur, killing 4 soldiers and wounding at least 16 others, both dissidents and government’s military sources confirmed on Monday, adding that the ISIL terrorists stormed the bombed camp after the air raid.

The sources said that a US warplane struck the military camp of the Syrian army’s 137th Artillery Brigade (17th Reserve Division) in the Southern part of ‘Ayyash’ village, killing 4 soldiers instantly and wounding 16 more. Six wounded soldiers are in critical condition.

The Syrian army’s 137th Brigade has been protecting the civilians in the village of ‘Ayyash from the swarming ISIL fighters that are attempting to break into the provincial capital of the Deir Ezzur province from the Northern side; this airstrike only boosted the ISIL positions inside this village and the nearby broadcast tower.

The sources further added that the ISIL launched an offensive against the government forces’ positions in Ayyash village 10 kilometers Northwest of Deir Ezzur city.

The Syrian army and its allies have gained upper hand in the Eastern province of Deir Ezzur in the recent weeks, after new recruits of popular forces joined the army and won back new lands across the province , and meantime fended off the ISIL attacks on their positions, mainly the Deir Ezzur airbase.

On Sunday, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad praised Russia for its efforts aimed at defeating terrorist groups, and meantime underlined that the US-led coalition has failed to deliver on the promise to tackle the ISIL.

“Since the US-led coalition launched airstrikes against militant targets in Syria in September 2014, the ISIL, al-Nusra Front and “other like-minded organizations or groups were expanding, expanding freely,” the Syrian leader underscored in an interview with the Sunday Times.

“Russia, for its part, has managed to achieve much since September 30, when it launched its aerial campaign in Syria. The ISIL and al-Nusra started shrinking thanks to Moscow’s involvement, “Assad said.

He added that Russia’s counterterrorism campaign was authorized by Damascus, while the Syrian government did not provide permission to the US to operate on its territory.

“The Russian role is very important. It has had a significant impact on both the military and political arena in Syria… What is definite is that the Russian support to the Syrian people and government from the very beginning, along with the strong and staunch support of Iran, has played a very important part in the steadfastness of the Syrian state in the fight against terrorism.”

The Syrian leader stressed that Moscow’s support had been valuable even before it launched its anti-terrorist campaign in Syria.

“The Russians… want to protect Syria, Iraq, the region, themselves and even Europe. I am not exaggerating by saying they are protecting Europe today,” Assad said.

Assad emphasized that French and British participation in the US-led airstrike campaign in Syria is illegal under international law and will not be instrumental in defeating the ISIL.

“It is legal only when the participation is in cooperation with the legitimate government in Syria. So, I would say they don’t have the will and they don’t have the vision on how to defeat terrorism,” Assad said.

US-Led Airstrikes Kill 20 Civilians in Hasaka

TEHRAN (FNA)- Twenty civilians were killed in a US airstrike on Syria’s Northeastern Hasaka province following another US air raid on the Syrian army base in Southeastern Deir Ezzur province that killed several soldiers earlier today.

The US-led airstrikes hit al-Khan near al-Hawl town in Hasakah, killing 20 civilians and injuring 30 others.

Earlier this morning, four US-led coalition warplanes targeted the Syrian army camp with 9 rockets, claiming the lives of 4 soldiers and injuring 16 others.

Both dissidents and government sources confirmed early on Monday that the US warplanes struck the military camp of the Syrian army’s 137th Artillery Brigade (17th Reserve Division) in the Southern part of ‘Ayyash’ village, killing 4 soldiers instantly and wounding 16 more. Six of the wounded soldiers are in critical condition.

They further added that the ISIL terrorists stormed the bombed camp a few hours after the air attack.

The Syrian army’s 137th Brigade has been protecting the civilians in ‘Ayyash’ from the swarming ISIL fighters that are attempting to break into the provincial capital of the Deir Ezzur province from the Northern side; this airstrike only boosted the ISIL positions inside this village and the nearby broadcast tower.

The sources further added that the ISIL launched an offensive against the government forces’ positions in Ayyash village 10 kilometers Northwest of Deir Ezzur city.

Russian Fighter Jets Start Using Two More Airbases in Syria

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian government issued permission to the Russian air force to use two airports in Homs province – in addition to Khmeimim airbase in Lattakia – to attack terrorists across the country.

According to the Kommersant newspaper, the Russian army now plans to start deploying a large number of forces and air defense systems in Shairat and Tias airports in Homs province.

According to informed sources in the Russian defense ministry, the country’s pilots will use the two airports for fueling and repairs.

The sources were quoted as saying that “Tias and Shairat airports are much better than Lattakia’s Khmeimim airbase for providing logistics and air cover to the Syrian ground forces”.

Russia began counterterrorism operations in Syria on September 30, after Moscow received an official request from Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Initially, the military operation started conducted by a task force of more than 50 aircraft and helicopters, including the Sukhoi Su-34 and Su-24M bombers, Su-25 attack aircraft, Su-30SM fighters and Mil Mi-8 and Mi-24 helicopters. Last week, a decision was made to bolster the strike group with 37 new planes, including long-range aircraft carrying out sorties from Russian airfields.

Russia’s Caspian Flotilla ships also delivered two massive cruise missile strikes on ISIL targets in Syria using Kalibr NK ship-born cruise missiles, on October 7 and on November 20. A Russian submarine operating in the Mediterranean also delivered missile strikes on ISIL, also using Kalibr cruise missiles.

Probably the most impressive airstrikes were delivered by Russian strategic bombers, which used long-range strategic cruise missiles with conventional warheads, together with huge payloads of bombs dropped on ISIL installations on the Syrian territory.

Provinces, SANA

The Syrian army continued its operations against the armed terrorist organizations in several provinces on Monday, establishing control over dozens of villages and destroyed terrorists’ fortifications and weaponry.

Army units established full control over the villages of Khalsah, al-Qalajiyeh, al-Hamra and Zaitan in the southwestern countryside of Aleppo province, a military source told SANA on Monday.

The army combed the aforementioned villages and removed the explosive devices planted by terrorist organizations among the houses and in the neighboring agricultural lands.

The Army’s Air Force carried out intensive sorties against dens and supply routes of ISIS terrorists in Shweilekh, Jrouf , Rasm al-Mesherfeh and Teejan in Deir Hafer area 52 kilometers to the east of Aleppo city, according to a military source.

The air strikes destroyed gatherings and vehicles with all arms and ammunition inside them for ISIS terrorists who suffered during the past weeks successive defeats in the eastern countryside of the city after establishing control over scores of villages and farms surrounding Kweires Airport by the army.

In the northern countryside of Aleppo, a unit of army carried out a special operation against dens and gatherings of Takfiri terrorist organizations in al-Khalediyeh village destroying them and eliminating all terrorists, arms and ammunition inside.

Meanwhile, field sources said that an army unit clashed with a terrorist group that tried to infiltrate from Bani Zeid neighborhood to al-Khaldiyeh neighborhood in Aleppo city.

A terrorist group detonated a tunnel on the outskirts of al-Khaldiyeh and tried to infiltrate into the neighborhood but an army unit defeated it and all terrorists were either killed or wounded.

Takfiri terrorist organizations dig tunnels under the old city to infiltrate through them to the safe neighborhoods and destroyed some infrastructure and archaeological buildings.

Army units killed more than 62 terrorists in a series of operations against the terrorist organizations in Hama and Idleb provinces.

In Hama, the army destroyed terrorists’ command center and 3 vehicles and killed more than 15 terrorists in Kifr Zeita in Hama’s northern countryside.

The army also killed 10 terrorists in al-Latamneh and destroyed terrorists’ gatherings in Ma’an town. Army units clashed with terrorists who tried to infiltrate into the eastern side of Morek area and killed and injured the majority of the assailants and destroyed two vehicles.

US Attempting to Infiltrate Syria via Jordan

US Attempting to Infiltrate Syria via Jordan

TEHRAN (FNA)- Washington is pressuring Jordan to agree with the deployment of terrorists in Southern Syria to create an ‘infiltration zone’ in the war-hit Arab country.

The Kuwaiti al-Rai news (paper) website quoted an informed diplomat as saying that the US is attempting to gather the forces called by Washington as armed dissidents in one region to create a ‘concentration center’ in Syria to pave the ground for its infiltration in the Arab state.

According to the report, recently, a number of US-supported terrorists have entered regions in Southwestern Syria which shares borders with Jordan. The reports of the deployment have been rejected by Amman.

When Russia started air raids on terrorists in Syria over two months ago, some 3,000 terrorists escaped through the border with Jordan, and shared efforts by Amman and the US failed to encourage any more than 1,000 terrorists to go back to Syria.

Jordan is charged with designating terrorist organizations in Syria.

American defense officials said in May that at least 400 US military trainers were ready in Turkey and Jordan to start training of over 3,000 anti-Syria militants to join fight against the government of President Bashar al-Assad.

The United States would also provide the militants with weapons, trucks and tactical radios for their communication.

Over 1,000 Volunteer Forces Join Army in Quneitra, Damascus

TEHRAN (FNA)- Hundreds of civilians from Damascus and Quneitra provinces in Southern Syria voluntarily joined the Syrian army to undergo military training to get prepared for the fight against the ISIL Takfiri terrorists.

Over 1,000 Syrian volunteer forces will be trained to protect the regions that the army has already seized from the ISIL terrorist group.

This is for the third time that the residents of Damascus and Quneitra join the Syrian army.

“We have volunteered to join the Syrian army to fight terrorists and we are trying to purge Quneitra of terrorists,” a volunteer force from Quneitra said.

The volunteer forces will undergo weapons, combat, offensive and counteroffensive trainings to get prepared for confronting complicated terrorist operations.

The Syrian civilians are joining the army at a time when tens of militants are surrendering themselves to the Syrian authorities across the country.

A growing number of militants are giving up fight against the Damascus government as the Syrian army is advancing in multiple front across the country.

On Sunday, over 180 wanted militants turned themselves in to the Syrian authorities in Dara’a as the army is tightening grip on the terrorist groups across the country.

The sources said that the recent victories of the Syrian army and National Defense Forces, with the backup of the Russia fighter jets, have caused a growing number of Takfiri terrorists to lay down their arms in Dara’a province in the hope that they will be pardoned by the government.

Also on Sunday, the Syrian government announced that it has released tens of militants who had been jailed for armed struggle against the Damascus government.

President Bashar Assad’s government freed 270 militants within the framework of the country’s reconciliation plan, the Arabic service of Russia Today television channel said.

The development came after President Bashar al-Assad in a televised address in July pardoned all soldiers who have fled the army, saying that his words served as a general decree to relevant officials.

On Saturday, some 200 wanted militants from Zabadani region and Madaya in Damascus province turned themselves in to the authorities.

“The Syrian government has vowed to pardon all those who lay down arms voluntarily and it has remained loyal to its pledge so far, and this has encouraged us to give up fight, specially considering that the government troops, National Defense Forces and Hezbollah who also enjoy the air backup of the Syrian and Russian air forces has gained momentum in its battlefield victories,” one of those who surrendered in Damascus said.

Until last year, most surrendering cases happened in Homs and Damascus provinces, but now a growing number of militants lay down arms across the country.

In October, some 558 wanted militants surrendered to the Syrian authorities as the army troops, backed by Russian air support, had gained a faster momentum in their match on terrorist-held regions.

On Oct 28, 49 wanted persons from Damascus, Damascus Countryside, Quneitra, and Hama also surrendered.

Late in November, sources said some 159 wanted militants had turned themselves in to the authorities as the army continued to purge almost the entire coastal province of Lattakia of terrorist groups.

The sources said that the recent victories of the Syrian army and National Defense Forces, with the backup of the Russia fighter jets, have caused too many Takfiri terrorists to lay down their guns and apply for government pardoning in Lattakia province.

On Nov 1, at least 184 terrorists have laid down arms and surrendered to the Syrian authorities in Damascus, Aleppo and Deir Ezzur provinces, local sources said.

Following the Syrian-Russian joint operations, thousands of Takfiri terrorists have also fled Syria to Jordan, Turkey and Europe.

On Nov 11, some 69 wanted militants turned themselves in to the Syrian authorities in the Northern Province of Aleppo as the army defeated the ISIL terrorists who had laid siege on Kuweires Airbase for 2.5 years and still continues to gain more territories in the province.

Some 119 wanted terrorists from Homs province surrendered to the government as the terrorist groups are retreating from several areas across the country.

60 others from the provinces of Damascus, Quneitra and Homs also laid down arms and turned themselves in to the Syrian authorities on Nov 7.

Syrian Army Unearths Rebels’ Large Supply Tunnel in Damascus

TEHRAN (FNA)- Military sources said that the Syrian Army, in its mop-up operations in Damascus countryside, uncovered one of the largest supply tunnels of rebel groups in Jobar region in Eastern Ghouta.

The large tunnel unearthed by the Syrian army is 350 meters long and 17 meters deep and was used by militants to resupply and reinforce their embattled combatants.

The tunnel was equipped with ventilation, illumination and communication systems.

When the militants intended to use the tunnel they were completely surrounded by the Syrian Armed Forces. Several terrorists have been killed and several more have been captured by the army.

Jobar region is located in the Eastern parts of Damascus and it is in direct contact with the Eastern Ghouta region.

The Syrian government forces on Friday detected and destroyed a tunnel used by the foreign-backed militants in the Northeastern part of Damascus province, and killed all militants inside the tunnel.

The army destroyed a tunnel of the terrorists in Harasta in the Eastern Ghouta.

The Syrian soldiers trapped the militants inside the tunnel and all them after hours of clashes.

The pro-government forces have discovered several tunnels of militants in the recent weeks.

On Monday, The Syrian army explored another tunnel used by the Takfiri terrorists in Harasta.

As the Syrian army engineering units were combing the areas near Harasta Highway, they detected a tunnel that extends from the Eastern side of the highway towards Douma farms.

The tunnel was linked to a number of basements and trenches in the area.

A number of explosive devises were found inside the tunnel.

The army also destroyed a tunnel of the Jeish al-Islam terrorists with the length of over 350 meters in Jobar neighborhood in the same province.

Syrian Army’s Elite Troops Advance in East Aleppo After Crushing Daesh in Al-Shuwaylekh

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian Army’s Special Ops known as the “Tiger Forces” struck again in the Eastern parts of Aleppo province, imposing full control over Al-Shuwaylekh village after a violent battle with the ISIL Monday afternoon.

Media sources accompanying the Syrian Armed Forces near the Kuweires Military Airport, the Tiger Forces – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Aleppo City and Al-Salamiyah (East Hama city), Hezbollah, Kataebat Al-Ba’ath (Al-Ba’ath Battalions), and Harakat Al-Nujaba (Iraqi paramilitary) troops – completed control over Al-Shuwaylekh following their advance from the nearby village of Nasrallah, directly to the North of the frontline.

With Al-Shuwaylekh under the control of the Tiger Forces and their allies, they have the large village of Humaymah Al-Kabeera surrounded from two different flanks, while also holding the high ground after capturing the strategic hilltop of Tal Humaymah, army sources said.

Should the Syrian Armed Forces and their allies seize the village of Humaymah Al-Kabeera, they will be in position to strike at the ISIL stronghold of Deir Hafer, which is only located 3km East of the aforementioned site in the Aleppo Governorate’s Eastern countryside, they added.
