According to him, the Russian Aerospace Forces have performed 699 combat sorties, including 115 ones at night, since September 30, the beginning of the operation in Syria.

Andrei Kartapolov reminded that Kalibr sea-based cruise missiles were used in order to hit the most important targets.

“According to our data, in total, 456 objects have been destroyed. According to the estimation of the Russian General Staff, the air strikes caused in disrupted the infrastructure, supply and control systems of the militants,” stressed Andrei Kartapolov.

“According to the reconnaissance data, including radio talks interception, every night up to 100 armed extremists of Jabhat al-Nusra cross the border near Reyhanli, and the ISIS terrorists cross the border near  Jarabulus,” stated Andrei Kartapolov.

He explained that there was verified data confirming that the militants were leaving the combat areas through passages for the refugees made at the Syrian-Turkish border.

According to Andrei Kartapolov, desertion of the ISIS militants in Syria is reaching mass levels, most of the armed groups are demoralized.

“Discontent of the field commanders is increasing among the militants. There are facts confirming order disobediences,” told Andrei Kartapolov.

According to the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, the militants have already started retreating under strikes of the Russian aviation. They’ve lost most of the weapons and hardware deployed at the contact line with the Syrian Armed forces. The Russian reconnaissance UAVs increased the flight intensity in order to control the situation.

The representative of the Russian General Staff directed attention of military attaches and journalists to the territories, which the Russian aviation was performing strikes at.

“We are performing strikes only against facilities of the internationally recognized terrorist organizations. Our aircraft are not carrying out missions in South regions of Syria, where formations of the “Syrian Free Army” were located according to our data,” noted Andrei Kartapolov.

Andrei Kartapolov also said that the defence departments of Russia and US were going to sign an agreement on flight safety over Syria in the nearest future.

“At present, all the technical issues have been agreed. Russian and American attorneys are adjusting the agreement text. We estimate that the document would be signed as soon as possible,” stated Andrei Kartapolov.

The representative of the Russian General Staff also stated that military departments of Russia and Turkey have conducted the direct communication in order to provide flight safety of the Russian Aerospace Forces.

Moreover, there is a “hot line” between aviation coordination centre at the Hmeymim airbase and command centre of the Israeli Air Force. Moreover, on October 14-15, the sides held joint trainings on preventing air incidents.

“The air strikes against ISIS terrorists will continue according to receiving of credible information concerning their objects. It is evident that the strikes have made an impressive effect,” said Andrei Kartapolov.
