Russian Defence Ministry comments on the messages, which had appeared in a number of foreign mass media, concerning the anxiety of the American colleagues about the approach of a Russian and American aircraft up to the visual contact in the sky over Syria, which took place last Saturday.
The reasons of such surprise of the US Air Force representatives remain unclear.
First, the presence of the Russian combat aircraft in the Syrian air space is absolutely legal upon the request of the official authorities of the Syrian Arab Republic.
Moreover, the flights are agreed upon with the responsible bodies of this state.
Secondly, the visual contact between the Russian and the American aircraft is to be commented on.
Indeed, on October 10, a group of Russian aircraft escorted by a Su-30SM fighter performed a combat mission aimed at elimination of an ISIS facility in the Aleppo province.
While reaching the assigned area, the radar warning receiver system of the Russian jets detected radio impulses of an unidentified aircraft.
The Russian aircraft reached the distance of about two-three kilometres. There was no intention to scare anybody. The Russian pilot did that just in order to identify the aircraft.
After that the Russian fighter came back to its combat group to continue task performance.
It is worth mentioning that that case is not the first one. Russian pilots often have a visual contact of flights not only of the US jets but also of UAVs, including strike ones in the sky over Syria.
The Russian Defence Ministry sent to the Pentagon another series of suggestions concerning avoidance of accidents in the Syrian air space.
Discussion of these suggestions with the American party is taking place today during the videoconference.
