Warring Sides in Syria Reach Agreement on Zabadani, Kafraya, Fuaa

TEHRAN (FNA)- Warring sides in Syria have reached an agreement over all items related to a complete ceasefire in Kafraya and Fuaa, North of Idlib countryside, and in Zabadani, Damascus countryside as ceasefire was established in the areas, local sources said.

The deal, under UN supervision, included the withdrawal of militants holed up in the government-held area of Zabadani near Lebanon, and the evacuation of civilians from the villages of Fuaa and Kafraya under terrorists’ siege in Idlib province in Northwest Syria, sources said, al-Masdar reported.

It would be implemented within six months, during which there would be an extended ceasefire in the areas. Evacuation of wounded from both sides could begin as early as Friday.

The deal came just days after Syrian government forces and Hezbollah on one side, and the militants fighting against Syria on the other, agreed on a third ceasefire in the areas since August.

Previous ceasefires in Zabadani, Fuaa and Kafraya, had held only briefly.

Hezbollah and Syrian forces have tightened the noose around terrorists in Zabadani and Idlib province. The operation began in early July and is seen as an attempt to bolster control of land routes between Lebanon and Syria and sever rebel supply lines.

Zabadani is located 50 kilometers Northwest of Damascus and 12 kilometers Northeast of Lebanon’s Masnaa border crossing.

ISIL Militants Killed in Clashes with Kurdish Forces near Syria’s Kobani

TEHRAN (FNA)- An official at the People’s Protection Units (YPG) said that over 15 ISIL Takfiri terrorists were killed in clashes with the YPG forces near Sarrin town in the countryside of Kobani, North of Syria.

At least 15 ISIL militants were killed and 22 others wounded during clashes in the vicinity of Sarrin town, YPG Spokesman Sarhad Abbas told ARA News.

The clashes broke out after Kurdish YPG forces attacked the ISIL strongholds in the villages of Hawiz, Bir al-Ubaidat and Mirouh near Sarrin town in the countryside of Kobane.

“Our (YPG) forces bombed several ISIL positions in the area, killing more than 15 terrorists and wounding 22 others,” he said.

“The operations will continue in the coming days until removal of the ISIL from the vicinity of Sarrin,” Abbas said.

Earlier this month, military sources said that the YPG in Northern Syria fended off the ISIL terrorists’ attacks in the nearby areas of Kobani, and killed at least five of them.

The sources said at the time that the radical ISIL group targeted headquarters of the Kurdish forces in the villages of Sihrij and Heyale Kayala South of Kobani, which led to clashes between the two sides.
